Is It Safe Koh Tao?

hello to everybody

in my next vacations i am thinking to visit bangkok samui and koh tao

is it koh tao safe for tourist?

how can i go from samui to koh tao?

how many trips a day is there from koh samui to koh tao?

and other different questions

in your opinion where is the best place(quality and price) to buy suit in(tailor shop

bangkok or koh samui? or other places?

and why?

Safe as in what way??

If you mean weather wise (since that is the only problem I can think of), you should be careful if travelling there in the monsoon season (oct-dec) as bad weather and big waves can cancel the boats which run several trips a day out of samui. two years ago the navy had to evacuate the people on koh tao because the boats were unable to deliver supplies and were unable to take people off the island due to very big waves.

Otherwise I can't imagine what would be unsafe about Koh Tao.

maybe he's affraid of having too much fun, falling off the dive boat drunk and getting left behind? who knows!

my ex wife is always going on about thailand been dangerous; she lives in a country with one of the highest murder rates in in the "civilized" world, the USA! people are afraid of what they don't know.

so far way about 2 hours by boat

Paulo, like I said, it depends on what time of year you come. Oct-Dec is guaranteed to have bad weather days. Not good for diving anyway. It also depends on which boat you take. Avoid the night boat to Koh Tao (too slow, too old, too creaky and it sank once already). There are a couple of good sized fast boats that go. One I know of for sure that does well even in rough weather is the Lomprayah catamaran, but you can check around when you get to Samui.

the boat ride to Ko Tao can be bumpy but nothing to worry about. if you are worried about the waether, stay in surat thani a few days. the bigger boat (seatran) should survive anything, i'm not so sure about songserm however.

Seatran doesnt run to Koh Tao at all.Best bet is the Lomprayah catamaran which is fast, comfortable and safe.You can even watch a movie.

As for dangers-apart from human menaces you only need to use common sense.Normal hazards are motorbike accidents(the roads are crap and there are no helmets),plenty of fatalities in the sea each year-usually over exertion, and the occasional pair of "concrete wellies".

Last year the monsoon was very weak and ferries running fine pretty much throughout the monsoon.We were able to make daily fishing tours even in Nov,Dec.

and for sure to all the expats who are in bangkok for diving

i did my divemaster on koh tao so that i stayed there nearly 4 months

right to access the island lomphraya is one off the best choice

the roads are bad depending which beach you like to stay

good advice ask strayed in front of lomphraya office in the restaurant artao for eden bongalow close to sairee view and take a good sandwich at zest if you go by pick up around 8min or check for a good bike at bernds lederhosenbikes

for your dives i will recommend you [email protected] call for fran or kio you are going to visit the turtle island why not diving with green turtle yeah the season is starting in january but even in december you can have nice diving days so for party go to see in touchbar or maya bar or ac bar but sorry no bar girls are here but still some nice chicks around for every once taste

and for your tailor walk up and down sukhumvit near nana and you will not miss one

Happens nearly every year. Last year it only happened once!
