Hello.

I live in Bangna, close (VERY close) to BITEC. And right now (since over half an hour in fact, it's now 10:30 AM on Saturday March 15) i can hear "drifting" sound, like there's a drift race going on - and it must be CLOSE because it's LOUD. The sound comes from the Samut Prakan direction, so it can't be the track behind Seacon (which is in the opposite direction and further away).

Anyone here knows where that track is? It's not the first time i here this kind of sound from that direction and i always wondered where it might be. My boyfriend, who is Thai, has no idea - he says "maybe they're testing cars at the Toyota factory" but this doesn't sound like testing but rather a real drifting competition.

I appreciate any information.....

Best regards.....

If it is close then why don't you just go out and look? :o

Because i don't know where to go, WHAT a suggestion..... that's the precise reason why i ask here because i WANT to see that!

I just got back from a day trip top Ayudhaya and now (7 PM) they are STILL racing/practicing/whatever.

And it's NOT Seacon because that's quite the opposite direction and way too far (i live a stone's throw from BITEC).

And the Ozzie F1, as if you could hear that in Thailand what. I'm the only one with UBC in my building so THAT can be safely ruled out. Apart from that i know the difference between F1 and drifting, sound-wise, thank you very much.

Best regards....

Update:

9:30 PM and they are STILL going. So whatever that is that they do, it sure takes long. But now i have an idea where it could be and i'll get on my Bulldozer and go have a look. Because i see a very bright floodlight about half a kilometer away and there's smoke there and camera flashlights, so THAT must be the action.

Best regards.....

And last update.....

One thing is guaranteed: Even a whole-day event is finish one minute before i get there! Aaaargh.

So it is on the parking lot beside BITEC, indeed just about 500 meters from my place. And indeed a drifting competition. I caught a glimpse of the track that was outlined by tyres and pylons, as well as the cars and the drivers who were on a stage being interviewed, several of them speaking English but Asians. I must have missed the last run by mere minutes (dam_n traffic light at Bangna-Trat intersection with it's eternal "red" cycle!!)

But next time i hear this sort of action going on at least i know where it is :o

Best regards.....
