Lost in LOS Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 I have a Kawasaki ninja 600 motorcycle. it requires 95 octane gas according to the book [book says anything less than 95 will cause severe damage to the engine]. now that they are stopping the sale of 95 i need some help. Any of you with experience have advice on what to do other than getting rid of the bike, i want to keep the bike. A Thai mechanic for big bikes said 95 gasohol will be ok. anyone know for sure? thanks
solent01 Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 I'm not 100% certain, as you don't say how old your model is, but 95 Gasahol E10 should work fine, the only real damage it can do is to rubber parts in the fuel system (on old models), but later models have been built with this type of fuel in mind. By the way, there is two types of Gasohol, one with Ethanol, and one with Methanol, only Ethanol is used in Thailand, which is just as well because Methanol will damage the fuel systems of the most modern models and cause performance problems (all modern Yamaha big bikes, come with an advisery not to use fuel that contains Methanol, and as all the Jap bikes are basically the same.....).
