Aquiring A Green Book

can anybody advise me please,im looking at purchasing a bike that has no green book but does have thai a plate,the gentleman who owns the bike says he bought it like this and has just rode it as it is,though i feel then need to ensure i am fully legal,alas the need for the green book so can insure it and tax it,can anybody advise me on how difficult and what is required to get the green book,

any advice much appreciated

Indeed, the plate is most probably a fake. Many of the 'big' bikes around have fake plates on them, meaning that they are not legally registered.

Actually, it is a bigger offense to have a forged plate on the bike than it is to ride around with no plate on. When i bought my bike i took the forged plate off, and even with an unregistered bike, i never had any problems from the boys in brown about it. However, after a couple months of feeling uneasy whenever out on the bike, just because of the fact that is wasnt legal, i sold it and bought a registered bike.

Bottom line, personally, for piece of mind if nothing else, i would want the green book!

I agree, fake plate. If you ever wanted to register it you would have to pay the import taxes (if it did not have the import papers) plus all the back registration fees and penalties. Could get VERY expensive.
