Travel Vaccination Advice For Thailand

Featured Replies

So i've been to Thailand twice now and never had any travel vaccinations.

However having been quite ill in Singapore recently, I can see the wisdom of playing it safe.

So what travel jabs are recommended ?

Should I take anti-malaria pills too ? Which brand are any good ?

Thanks for the advice and I look forward to your suggestions.

Hepititis A 3 jabs covers 10 years, saves on the tiolet paper!!!!

Malaria! need to check if the area you are visiting is infected, there is a phone number in the UK to do this, tablets are usually specific for an area, if you don't need them don't take em, some have potential nasty side effects!!!

Just remembered, Hep A vaccine is called "gamma globulin" not sure of the spelling!

Definitely get Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, and Typhoid. Also check your usual diptheria/tetanus, polio stuff you should have kept current since you were a child. I'll bet you never got your booster shots after you were 15.

Malaria pills aren't recommended unless you plan to be a backpacker or something. For the ordinary tourist, no need.

You should consider Japanese encephalitis if you will be here over 3 months or so, but I have heard that it can have nasty side effects. No info on just WHAT those side effects might be.
