Hi..

I would like to ask some questions about application visa to French embassy .

I am Thai citizen and my husband is German. He is working in London right now and i am going to see him on May by EEA Family Permit visa, valid for 6 months (April - October)and intended to apply as a Residence card when i am in a UK.

But the problem is my husband just get a new job in Geneva, Switzerland and we have to move to live in France on June , so i have to stay in UK a few week then move to France. the question are:

1. What types of visa i should apply for long stay in france ? and i should apply visa at french embassy in Thailand or london??

I see this website from french embassy in London http://www.consulfrance-londres.org/spip.php?article352 and i know that i have to apply as Schengen visa but Schengen visa permit just short stay . i know if i arrive in france in have to apply Residence permit within 2 months so, if i can go to France by Schengen visa i'll be able apply Residence Permit in French or not? http://riviera.angloinfo.com/countries/france/residency.asp

2. Could i apply Schengen visa once i am in UK?? How long of this process to get Schengen visa?

3. What the documents i need for apply visa?

Thank you

"Family members of EU nationals must lodge an application for a short stay Schengen visa then contact the prefecture to finalise the formalities, should they wish to settle in France."

http://www.consulfrance-londres.org/spip.php?article343

so , i may have to apply Schengen visa first then when i arrive France i have to apply residence permit later?

Yes, that's correct. You should be able to apply for a Schengen visa at the French embassy in London. This should be issued free of charge, and then once in France, you can register with the local authorities free of charge and be given a five-year residence permit.

Scouse.
