Waiting for Tears.
You must be disappointed. In 2020, at this time of the year, we experienced a barrage of MAGA posts whining about massive voter fraud, getting wet at every Kraken style lawsuit (which all ultimately failed), and so on. Nothing like that now. Dems are not whining about imaginary fraud, are not chanting "stop the steal", and are certainly not going to assault the Capitol! 😀 -

Europe Braces for Escalation: Germany Mobilizes NATO Troops Amid Putin's Nuclear Threats
Biden is doing nothing more than giving assistance to a slow suicide. It might ultimately help ther war end more quickly. Everytime Biden helps more Ukranians will die. There will be nobody left to fight sooner or later. Putin now has access to an almost unlimited supply of soldiers. Let's just say some of those NK soldiers are probably from China and there is no shortage. Now before people call me evil and all of that I am not a fan of Putin but if you look strategically it is painfully obvious there is no way forward for Ukraine. The people themselves want a negotiated settlement because they would probably rather stay alive and eat. Not many have the appetite for an impossible war with winter setting on. -

If only everyone was as welcoming to foreign ideas, we'd have Thailand's problems sorted in no time. -

Shocking Online Threats: Trans Woman Targets JK Rowling and Nancy Mace in Call to Violence
First of all, it's not all that shocking. Rowling has stated repeatedly that she gets death threats because of her trans views. This is just one more. And I imagine that trans people get death threats all the time too. Secondly, all this character has to do is go onto X, where Elon Musk, the "Free Speech Absolutist" and now First Lady, who reinstated Graham Linehan when he threatened to kill a trans activist, will welcome her with open arms. Thirdly, as heinous as it is, it palls against the 350 murders of trans people already in 2024. Actual violence not just hot air. Like all decent people I'm appalled by this person and agree that some action should be taken. However I'm also appalled by the usual names on here twisting the narrative to suit their own political agenda and anti-LGBT prejudices. It should be condemned for what it is, some idiot spouting bile, and not used for any political narrative or to fuel bigotry. There are some pretty nasty characters on here too remember, and they're very vocal. -

Shocking Online Threats: Trans Woman Targets JK Rowling and Nancy Mace in Call to Violence
Jonny when you claim there is a two tier justice system it is for you to provide the evidence to back your claim. I, and others, have frequently posted facts that disprove claims of two tier justice that you make. I shall continue to do so. -

Thailand's Expats Urged to Register with TRD for Tax, Says Expert
I beg to differ. The TRD hasn't made a clear decision - we get as many opinions from the TRD as they have staff. This was to be expected. The first time they really demonstrated in public what a complete mess their own thinking is, was the French embassy video. @4myr's post yesterday reminds me a lot of this video. An incredible, incoherent hodgepodge of truths, halftruths, misunderstandings and falsehoods. But they have the power. Like immigration. My personal conclusion: I really don't want to deal with these guys. For the time being, this means I won't bring money into Thailand. No condo, no car, no house, no flight tickets, no nothing. What do I live on? I have some savings here, and I am staying in Thailand a lot less than before. Longer term, I will probably stay less than 180 days a year. And when - not if - worldwide income will be taxed or the visa will be tied to a tax return, I am out of here. Filing taxes at home is bad enough, filing taxes in 2 bureaucratic countries - life is too short.
