NSW finally won a state of origin series, after 8 years of being losers. lol.

score NSW 6, QLD 4.

Well, with 7 states, that's statistically not too bad.

The State of Origin series of three matches are between players born in NSW and Queensland only.

Queensland almost always win.

I know. It's my weird humour and the fact that I was born a New South Welshman.

No need to apologise, it's just your bad luck.

I was born (??) an East Anglian, so I have every advantage except sunshine.

What's wrong with "born a ...."? Just asking. Sounds right in my head, but I'm not a grammar expert.

He was born with a deformity

She was born an Australian but became a Thai citizen.

He was born to rule.

You're possibly right. Be interesting to find out.

Well if we are going to get pedantic let's include the following territories I think you may have overlooked.

  • Ashmore and Cartier Islands.
  • Australian Antarctic Territory.
  • Christmas Island.
  • Cocos (Keeling) Islands.
  • Coral Sea Islands.
  • Heard and McDonald Islands.
  • Norfolk Island.

Hello unkle, I was going to mention them but I didn't want to confuse the lads, they seem to struggle so much, with just the basicz. :P

Of course, you failed to mention the Principality if hutt river, which of course is a small country within a big country ;)

And now you've overlooked the Duchy of Moonee Ponds. Dame Edna will be miffed.

I wonder how they would cope at Thai Immigration next time I come through with one of these :-

For those that are unaware there is also a Principality of Wy (In Mosman of all places)

Serene_family_framed.jpg

Prince Paul and the Serene Family in the Forest of Wy – a 2005 painting by Samuel Wade.

I should never have started this research.

It appears there are also :-

Empire of Atlantium - founded in 1981, (one of Australia's few micronations of the left), is a one-bedroom flat in Potts Point, Sydney,

Principality of United Oceania - ruled by His Serene Highness Prince Peter I. This is a 66 hectare bushland block, 200km north of Sydney, near the small town of Medowie.

Province of Bumbunga - near Snowtown, on the main route between Adelaide and Perth

Independent Nation of Rainbow Creek - in the Victorian Alps.

Principality of Ponderosa - is a 24 hectare property near Shepparton, Victoria

Gay Kingdom - based on an archipelago in the Coral Sea

Duchy of Avram - in Tasmania

You can read more about them here :-

You will have you anal cavity searched with a plastic replica of an elephants donga, as Thailand has a special arrangement with the P of Hutt River for such processes to be carried out on all their citizens. After which you will be issued with a 24 hour visa, which has 90 minute reporting conditions.

Welcome to Thailand !

I think any immigration officer with a primary school education would see that the passport is made up; The position of New Zealand with respect to Australia is completely wrong, far too close, a bit disoriented, and a tad too far south.

I was always under the impression Australia had six states - Qld, NSW, Vic, Tas, SA and WA.

They'll need to change that six pointed star on the flag.

Do you know why I said 7 states? Because the SEVEN points of the star. Not counting the ACT, there were 6 states and the NT.

Just doing a quick Wki.... there are 3 mainland territories (NT, ACT, and....Jervois Bay Territory (a new one on me), plus 6 island territories, plus the Australian Antarctic Territory.

That would make it a 15 pointed star.

I should have checked first before opening mouth!rolleyes.gif

Always hated that flag (from primary school) because it has another country's flag in the corner.

Weegee reckons the boxing kangaroo flag is better.

Weegee reckons the boxing kangaroo flag is better.

That was good novelty value initially, still good as a banner at sporting events, but I prefer

something like the first one on this page:

https://www.google.com.au/search?q=new+australian+flags&biw=911&bih=237&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=X7EPVM2PI9OfugTB0YGwDQ&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ

However, I now doubt I will see Australia become a Republic, and get a new flag, in my lifetime.

The place has become ultra conservative in the last decade or so.

And the winner is..............................

Great_New_Aussie_Flag.jpg

So, IF Scotland does the right thing and extracts themselves from the yoke of English imperialism, and IF this means the Union Jack has to be changed to exclude the Scottish colours, what happens to that abomination in the corner of the Australian flag?

Will it be changed to reflect a new Brit flag, or would it be the ideal time to make a completely new Australian flag?

And the latest news from Oz:

WALLABIES GO DOWN 21 - 17 TO ARGENTINA
SOUTH AFRICA TAKE CLOSE MATCH 27 - 25 OVER ALL BLACKS
Despite leading 14-0 in the first half, the Qantas Wallabies have fallen to Argentina 21-17 on Sunday morning after a mountain of Argentinian possession and penalties allowed the Pumas to claim their first win in the Rugby Championship. The Wallabies will get the chance to redeem themselves when they play the world number one All Blacks in Brisbane on Saturday 18 October for a Bledisloe match.
Last year it was one of the greatest Test matches that decided the Investec Rugby Championship and this year it took the South Africans to play at their best for 80 minutes to head off the All Blacks who had already claimed the Championship. It was obvious from the first Test the two teams played in Wellington three weeks ago that the margin between the sides had been significantly reduced and it was a deserved win for South Africa in the cauldron that is Ellis Park. There was some outstanding rugby, if not quite to the level achieved last year, and South Africa had to throw off the traditional aspects of their game to take on the New Zealanders with the ball in hand.

(This was e-mailed to me by a friend who likes talking rugby. I'm not talking rugby this week after Wasps lost to some upstart club called Sale. Disgusting!)

The photos of the British Parliament are mis-labelled to achieve their point.

Some are ten years old or more.

This has been pointed out in several British papers over the past day or two.
