Who would be your transfer targets for next season?

Realistic or otherwise!

As an Oxford United fan I'd like Dean Windass and Tommy Mooney to return to see us back up from the depths.

As a West Ham Fan i want, realistically, Gudjohnsson from FCB as i think Ashton is a goner..

Kaka & the Boy Pato from Milan if they fancy a bit of East London, would be welcomed too.. :o

35,000,000 quid to spend on the mighty potters.maybe we have a chance in this horrible premiership that only 4 teams can win the league.

at least i can watch them every match now but am not impressed by themoney hungry division and the players, most of them, who are only interested in draining the club of as much money as possible.then you have all the scumbag agents who plunder the club also.give me the championship any day.

I would be happy just to keep what we have now except for the ones already released.

Don't think any BIG names will be haeding in our direction if we could not attract them as a Premier League side what hope have we of attracting them to the Fizzy?

Any takers for the GREAT JOHN OSTER.

So happy to see the back of that loser

Had to read that a couple of times before I realised that you hadn't said Gooner. :D

Agreed that Gudjohnsson would be a very good replacement for Ashton if, although more likely, when.

Bullard at Fulham would have been worth a punt if they'd have gone down.

More unrealistically, Ballack at his best. And if really pushed, then one Juan Roman Riquelme. :o

How does James McFadden sound? Just the name alone is worth a couple of million :D but everytime I saw Birmingham play he looked a good player.in a poor side. He'll probably end up at Rangers but I'd like to see him at West Ham. He's not a prolific goal scorer but could play just behind Ashton and Bellend. He's good at set pieces and most importantly he would help drive the team on with Parker. The side looked a bit flat last season, the solution could be James McFadden :D

Better shout than Andy Johnson anyway. :D

How many did McFadden score last season ? But at least his first for the Brummies was a penalty against us.

Strikers apart. I still reckon that we need a creative midfielder in the mould of a Riquelme or Kaka. :o

One step at a time. :D The road to world domination starts with the McFaddens of this world but by 2012 we might be in the market for the equivalent of Kaka but our chairman needs to shift a few packets of biscuits to get us there. Meanwhile there has been talk of Diouf but I can't think of a worse buy. I'm hoping Nani might come up with someone unknown who we can develop. However with all our injuries having Dyer and Bellamy back will be like a couple of new signings, as they say. :D

That's true. All we need now is to bring in a new medical team as well. Come on Curbs and/or Nani... SORT IT AWT ! :o

I suppose we should really move to the West Ham thread, sorry..

Looks like Nani is scouting already..

West Ham United are set to clinch a loan deal for Italian starlet Davide Lanzafame.

The 21-year-old striker is a product of Juventus' youth system and made his first-team debut for them last season.

But this term he was loaned out to Bari in Serie B where Juve legend Anontio Conte is coach.

And Lanzafame did not disappoint with ten goals which earned him a call-up to the Italian Under 21 squad.

Ronaldo comparison

Indeed Conte feels the player has all the ability in the world - even likening him to Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo.

"Lanzafame has improved tactically," he told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

"He is explosive, he sniffs the goal, and imposes his speed outside the area. If he improves and learns he can become like Cristiano Ronaldo."

West Ham are now set to agree terms with Juve for a season-long loan.

The deal is a clear indication of the influence of The Hammers' new sporting director Gianluca Nani.

The Italian was brought in to oversee transfer policy and he has wasted little time in sealing a deal for one of his country's brightest young prospects.

Why not target Paul Whitehead the Sunderland captain as well.

Somehow McFadden & Whitehead sounds a great combination LOL

If they could not score they could sing!!

Sounds like a firm of Scottish undertakers. I think Shorey & Kitson has a nice ring to it, though :o

I guess Reading don't have many players who will be sought out by premiership clubs over the summer allowing them to keep the squad together for a quick return. Bit of a blessing in disguise/double edged sword.

Keeping the squad together is one thing and a "quick return" another. With respect to Reading, or anyone else relegated to the Championship, there's by no means any certainty that it'll happen. That division is a right lottery. Also it's no secret that Shorey would love to join the Hammers, although I for one don't think that we need him apart from strengthening the squad as a whole.

Lita may also be a target for one or two of the newly promoted sides ?

The priority for Reading is to keep Steve Coppell else they could easily fall apart, imo.

Coppel's staying which is good for them (in my opinion). Lita has had his moments but his finishing can be awful, so I wouldn't bet on any offers coming in for him. Kitson on the other hand has a bit of quality and he may welll be snapped up.

He (Coppel) must have made his mind up whilst "taking in the sea air" in Pattaya last weekend !

wonder if he made any new "signings" there ?

:D:o:D

He was there again last week???? I saw him 'scouting for talent' down there in 2006, but the best offer he got that night was my mate clutching at his knee!!!

you've more chance of carlos tevez winning a beauty contest than faddy joining rangers. if mcfadden came back to scotland it would be for celtic - same place I could see reading's kevin doyle ending up.

:D coppell's a sly dog - I've heard of past sightings in phuket too. that's what I like about the man - deep down, he's one of 'us'.

I make you right on all counts. I did think about Kitson but I'm always a bit unsure about mentioning him, tbh, in case it's a West Ham old boy who's just dyed his hair ginger and changed his first name. :o

A lot is made of Tevez saving us from the drop a few seasons ago, which is true, but Paul Kitson (along with Hartson) did the same thing for us in 1996-97.

That's also the case. I heard only yesterday that 'the bhouys' again are interested in signing Mcfadden.

I'll settle for Matt Green signing, looks hopeful for now.

Let's hope so. I saw him score a brace at home against Histon, and the first one was a super finish by any standard.

Mooney and Windass are knocking on - they might fancy a last hurrah with us. I saw Mooney for Walsall against Cheltenham and he looked dangerous. Mind you, we would lack pace up front with those two!

I think everybody missed my effort at a joke.

McFadden & Whitehead had a big hit in the UK in the 70's......but my joke was a flop. :D

Whitehead is ex-Oxford, Mossfin would never forgive him (or me) if he came to Reading...a bit like the other Whitehead (Phil) who went to Reading after his best days at Oxford were behind him. Flapper Phil we used to call him :D

Maybe they are related???
