Anyone with experience purchasing/installing a solar water heater system on Koh Samui. Will need for a restaurant and villas. Thank you

Heading from Chaweng to Bophut, just before the lights on your right hand side,a solar heating shop. You just have to weigh up the costs. With solar heating you have to use basically a normal Hot water system eg 500-1000 litres to keep that water hot overnight.

Not correct. A good solar tank is insulated and can keep the water warm for several days. A 200 liter system is enough for 4 peoples to take shower once a day.

OK Claude you win :o .I had solar heating in Australia,Number one, you must circulate the water,to get hot to a certain temperature, you then have to keep that water at that temperature ( conventional large capacity water heater), taking into account the distance that water has to travel in COPPER pipes, one system feeding different buildings as OP is inquiring about. You then have to reheat that water during the night , I used OFF PEAK power cheap, but not available here.During long periods of NO sun you must heat that water.

Samuian mentioned the black pipe, I had that for the pool, very effective & cheap, black strips , which consist of several small tubes/piping.The water pumped up to roof , sits there until it hits the temp set on thermostat & then is disharged back out into the pool, very effective . If you use that system, again the problem is maitaining the temperature overnight in the holding tanks. So no matter which system you use , you have to have a large capacity water heater to complement it.

So really no, I don't know what I'm talking about, I just had the 2 systems mentioned ,for several years.

So for the total cost of purchasing, pumps, tanks with heaters & electricity used, it seems a bit more logical to have several of the small heaters ( instant) installed close to point of discharge. With these types, you only pay for what you use.

I have a new one coming on the market soon that uses Infra Red. We will be manufacturing here in Nonplalai near Pattaya.

This system can even heat the water at night.

PM me and I will send you more info. We haven't set prices yet, but that is not far off.

It will be attractive though.

Cheers

During long periods of NO sun you must heat that water.

modern solar panels don't require direct sunlight.

Moon power?
