Learning Thai In Bangkok

Featured Replies

Starting July 1st I want to learn to speak thai. I have 6 months to do this -- obv. I won't be fluent, but I want to dedicate 6 months to this.......I mean spending 4-5 hours/day learning thai. I am from the usa -- could I use my english as a "trade" to learn thai? I speak zero thai fwiw. How would you go about this? I will not have a busy job (professional online poker player) for these 6 months and will be residing in Bangkok so I can dedicate alot of time to this.

Thanks for your time,

Tony

There is a Thai Language section on this forum with a pinned topic "Best Thai Language Schools". You'll find a wealth of first hand information there. Thai Language School Thread

Check out Baan Phaasaa Thai in Ploenchit Center if it is convenient. I highly recommend it and its methods of teaching.

Are those online gambling sites available there? I thought they might block them.

I use a proxy server, US bank account, and US address.......I post on twoplustwo.com check it out...........Thank you everyone for the info

Try Walen School of Thai. Also you can do it on your own with Pimsleur Thai Beginner's course (30 days). Look it up on the internet and buy it. It's well worth it. Best audio CDs I've ever heard of for learning Thai. They use a few archaic words in the lessons I've learned but it will give you a solid base to learn more. Try it out.

you can get a 1 yr ed visa from wallen, costs about 1,000 usd super easy

try Union Language School, very good teaching methods makes learning and remembering fast. My sister went there for 8 months she was able to read and write middle school level I believe.

I think better get a thai girlfriend who doesn't speak ANY english.

Also watch a lot of thai TV if you can stand it.

Sing along to Thai karaoke songs.
