So much for inner turmoil! With Torres back in the role he likes best as the lone striker and a midfield of Silva,Iniesta,Xavi and Fabregas that purred along like a Rolls Royce,Spain were far too good for Russia.

Arshavin and Pavlyuchenko hardly had a look in by a defence well marshalled by Puyol.

Russia left their best football behind them and were a shadow of the team that beat Holland.

Seems like the air went out of the Russian team after Spain scored the first goal.

The match really never took off.

Spain in full control, but I think the scoreline is a bit flattering.

Having missed 2 matches only in this cup, I think I can say that it is probably the most boring cup ever.

Some of the matches had exciting endings, but the matches were very often played with low pace.

Same as yesterday. One would think that the 3-0 was a thrashing, resulting from a full ahead attacking style football.

Nope. Carefully and very often slow build up, with a good through ball involving technical skilled players.

I have a feeling the final might be a boring one.

Yep, nothing like how they played against Holland. Even their manager said they were tired chasing all of Spain's "one-touch" passing.

Hi folks,

congratulations to the Spanish team for the 1:0 win over our German team. The Spanish team was the better one and deserve to be European Champions.

CONGRATULATIONS!

Nah, im an oldskool football fan so i cant openly congratulate another team and actually mean it, they were the best in the tournament by some distance though, and have a good young team for WC2010.

I just think it funny when you hear "of course Spain always looked as if they'd win it"

And before that it was Portgugal and then Germany who was going to, no doubt about it.

Me, I predicted a Holland v Croatia final. :o

But I enjoyed these finals. No emotional investment so I could watch the whole affair from a purely football perspective and quite enjoyed it.

I said this well before the finals , so no flip-flopping here. But the player that I liked most was Senna.

Yes, its amazing how many good judges there are AFTER the event.Step forward Andy Gray, the biggest culprit of all.

I was pleasantly surprised by the general standard of referreeing throughout the tournament. They did their job without any fuss and kept their distance from the players. There was none of the arm round the shoulder, little knowing winks and smiles that you see from the arbiters in the Premiership.I hope this is a precedent for next season.

Except for Ballack's blatant push on the Portugal defender that enabled him to score Germany's 3rd goal and get them through to the semi-finals. How that referee AND linesman didn't see it - when practically everyone else did - is a mystery. So I'm glad Germany didn't win because they didn't deserve to.
