Hey TV world. I need wireless internet and am not sure where to find it on the island. Can anyone reccomend places with free wifi (like, resturants/coffee shops) and guesthouses (though I'd prefer a bungalow) with wifi included? Thanks!!!

Places with wi-fi off the top of my head:

In-Room-

A's Buakao Guesthouse, Thong Sala

Garden Lodge, Ban Tai

Mandalai Hotel, Chaloklum

Coco Huts, Leela Beach Had Rin

Havana Beach Resort, Thong Nai Pan Yai

In common area-

Yellow Cafe, Thong Sala

The new sushi place near 7-11, Thong Sala

Coco Garden Resort, Ban Tai - probably would work best for you as some of their bungalows can get the signal and it's cheap/nice

Pen's Bungalows, Thong Nai Pan Yai

Indian Bar, Thong Nai Pan Yai

Flip Flop Pharmacy/Bar, Thong Nai Pan Noi

feel free to add to the list here....

Piggie Pie Cafe in Thong Sala, just down the street from the new Pier has free wifi for customers I believe.

Outback bar had rin is free. Not all the above places are (Flip Flop in TNP is Ichywawa which you have to buy air time for). Worth trying it out in any restaurant in had rin as many resprts and internet shops have it so you can pick it up for free (he he). Sea garden is a good bet.

This small Hotel will open very soon (they just waiting for additional electricity supply's) including, TV, CD-Player, Fridge, hot Water and free WiFi in the rooms. Direct on one of the most beautiful small quiet beach on this side

The place is well known and supply's very good food to: Jungle Hut Bungalows, Had Chaopao, Sunset side.

I guess due to the low season here, price will be negotiable with the owner. Must be in the range 800-1000 Baht

hmm sunset cove looks great but as it turns out it's too expensive for my planned break next week... thinking about trying garden lodge in ban tai instead (because of their wi-fi)... any comments on that place?

More places with wi-fi i found this week:

- Milky Bay in Ban Tai has it in the restaurant/pool/bar area

- Phangan Beach Resort in Ban Tai has it in the restaurant area

- Rung Arun Resort in Ban Tai has a Cyberpoint hotspot with a good signal even inside their rooms, must buy a card (500b for 450 mins)

- High Life Bungalows in Had Yao also has a Cyberpoint hotspot for the same deal

- Shiralea Backpacker's Resort in Had Yao has wifi, but not sure what the deal is as I didn't go there

- Sunset Cove in Ao Chao Phao has it in their restaurant

- Paradise Garden Resort in Thong Nai Pan Yai has free wifi in all the bungalows, though the connection can be spotty

Cyberpoint is now 500b for 1 month flat connection, speed 512k/128k with looooong latency (forget smooth streaming video...) and some downtime....
