Lemon Farm, Dairy Home...organic?

Featured Replies

I read about Lemon Farm selling organic products. After visiting the local shop, I realized that not everything was organic, or at least it wasn't labeled as organic. While at Lemon Farm I was looking for organic milk, in the refrigerated section there was an area labeled "Organic Milk." It contained milk and yorurt made by Dairy Home, but the products did not have the organic label I have seen on some vegetables from the local Villa. A search on google led me to a BangkokPost article about Dairy Home, stating it was organic.

A couple questions. Are Dairy Home and Lemon Farm related? Is Dairy Home certified organic?

If you have any suggestions for purchasing organic goods I would love to hear them. I heard there is a large organic area by the palace, but haven't made it there yet.

Thanks!

Anyone? Anything? What about the natural foods/vegetarian area run by Santi Asko?

Dairy Home is not certified organic, but they are the best organic choice locally for dairy. Lemon Farm stocks a number of organic products, but also many natural foods that are not organic. Organic certification is not required for organic labeling in Thailand and there are some credible and less-credible non-certified organic producers. Villa, Tops Food Hall, and Paragon all have pretty good certified organic selections. Some good local organic certified producers include Rai Pluk Rak, River Kwai International, Top Organic, Southeast Asia Organic, Khaokho Talaypu, and Green Net Cooperative. You can find their products at the above locations. However there is increasing demand and interest in organic foods and need for more producers/ suppliers such as in the area of organic dairy products.

With increasing interest and greater production and supplies the market should develop well over the next 5 years.
