Moving To Samui

There is a strong possibilty my career is taking me (and my 8yr old son) to live perminantly in Koh Samui based near Lamai beach in approx 3 months time ,,,,, can anyone give me an overview about life there for a 43 year old single parent Englishman ,,school is a major concern .I have lived in Asia for 10 years mainly Thailand where i have enjoyed the last few years in BKK,Pattaya and Nakornratchasima province so any comparisions between these and Samui would be most welcome . thanks in advance to anyone with info

My main suggestion would be to investigate the schools. My 8 year old goes to Bluewater school I we have been extremely happy with him there. They are having an open day on the 7th July from 9am. I believe the other schools you an just drop in too. Good luck
