I think the idea was to give us a place where certain topics that are of interest to some people, could be discussed without cluttering Bedlam with stuff that is of little interest to the majority of the members (like politics, economics, morals).

Subjects like britmaverics next appearance at Jenny's is still fair game though (unless it becomes a serious discussion about his dancing abilities).

Just some trivia. Some think the term Thinking Outside The box came from having to solve the below puzzle. The idea is to connect all the dots with only 4 straight continuous lines without lifting the pencil (the 9 dots puzzle). Solve it and you will see how the term could have come from it.
