Not sure how much one can comment on this topic, but it would be nice if H.R.H. Prince Charles was to be here to meet H.R.H. Princess Sirindorn as they are both keen environmentalists. Anyway should be an interesting time given all that's happening at the moment in Bangkok.

It has just been announced this morning ?

I'm not a specialist in Royal affairs but I believe this kind of meeting are prepared a little more in advance.

Further more since when a member of the English royal family acts as "special representative of trade and investment" ?

Could someone more knowlegeable in English politic cares to comment ?

Prince Andrew has been doing this for quite a while now. Kind of like a business ambassador for the UK. Using his royal status can really get things moving for British companies looking for contracts abroad.

Not announced but arranged much earlier (Normal Practice)

He has held that post since leaving the Royal Navy.

The Duke of York is a member of the British (not English) Royal Family, (the second son and third child of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II).

Currently the Duke of York works for the Department of Trade and Industry as the United Kingdom's Special Representative for International Trade and Investment. He took over from Prince Edward, Duke of Kent in this role. The role involves the Duke representing the UK at various trade fairs and conferences all over the world.

Also, HM The King "grants audiences", so Prince Andrew is received "in audience" by the King, he doesn't "take an audience".

If only he belonged to the English royal family then it would mean that they had nothing to do with us but as he represents the UK royal family I guess we're stuck with them until we off load England.

Any votes on a change of venue ?? :o

Charlie, an enviromentalist? Poor boy doesn't seem to know much about of the subjects he chooses to prattle on about. Wise move in sending Andrew. He won't speak out of turn and won't embarass the UK taxpayers paying for his luxury trip.

From what I have heard he may feel more comfortable in Patpong 3,,, :o

I've heard that it's not going to be a black tie affair, riot gear will be provided but he'll have to supply his own cs gas.

Reminds me of school rhyme.

The Grand old duke of York he had 10,000 men he marched them up to the top of the hill and he marched them down again, and when they were up they were up they were up and when they were down they were down and when they were only half way up they were nether up or down.

Classic english children's education.

But in all seriousness the Duke of york has classic English dental care.

Well takes my mind away from the protesting today.

Well, you don't remove posts when the British royal family are insulted, only when the Thai royal family are insulted. Maybe Thai visa can tell us why that is??????????????????????????????????????????????????

Because it's against the law to insult the Thai royal family

Under the Thai Criminal Code it is illegal to insult both the Thai Royal family

and the Royal Families of other nations.

I look forward to the day when Aust is a Republic—jic anyone was wondering what I thought on this subject.

There goes your knighthood then, what do they have in Australia instead, Australia day medals? Which carry virtually not weight outside the country.

I have never understood why the Brits complain about their royal family. I am not British, but I find them pretty unintrusive and interesting.

At any rate, I hope Andrew has a successful visit.

(PS Charles couldn't come because he's all worried about his carbon footprint!)

We don't all complain, HRH Andrew is a war veteran and HM Queen Elizabeth is a fine monarch. They do their duty.

Expecting abuse is imminent..

Phillip is quite an embarassment at times, although Harry seems to have alot of respect.

The French p**s me off for a lot of reasons but mainly because they stopped the revolution at Calais. Typically French, come up with a brilliant idea and then keep it to themselves. :o

The French Premier Georges Clemenceau once said that 'England is a former colony gone horribly wrong' :D
