Train Strike

Featured Replies

Hua Hin station during the recent train strike.

On a side note I'm very impressed with PTlens software and its amazing ability to "straighten" images. This is a fairly wide angle shot and quite a challenge to keep the lines straight.

beautiful , what if anything did you do to get the clouds like that ?

and how could a photoshop dummy like myself do it ?

i use grad filters to alter skies , but not always successfully.

Thank you for your kind comments.

I achieve the sky detail from within my camera. I have the facility to dial in either yellow, green, orange or red filters which render the image as per in the "old" days when shooting B+W - viz red/orange darkens the skies. This dial in facility does not alter the colours, only the intensity. (see attached colour image with "red" dialled in)

However, in Photoshop I use the "Shadow/highlight" command in "Image >adjustments and tweak about as I see fit. Then I use the "channels" layer, (not forgetting to check monotone) and move the R+G+B sliders to adjust further. I then "paint in/out" where I want more/less light/dark. On to "Image>adjust>lightness/contrast for adjustment, then "curves" for final adjustments. All of the above are set as an "action" (various actions depending on taste) and usually I just click one button and there it is.

You can see (maybe) on the attached image were I've "painted in" the lower right shadow area with the 3 horses and 2 riders

Hope this helps - conversely why not try a polarizing filter?
