Can anyone tell me categorically , if I choose to put my 800,000 bht offshore for nine months each year, returning it to a Thai Bank three monthes before my retirement Visa renewal,

whether there will be any problem with Immigration?

Another thing; we renewed last week and dealt with Sgt Major Supaporn; she couldn't have been more friendly or helpful;

we were in and out under an hour.

The rule is 800,000 baht in bank 3 months before you apply for the next extension. So for 9 months of the year you can do what you like with the money. However it would be a good idea to leave a little float and take some money in/out of your bank account throughout those 9 months, just to display some living expenses to keep the immigration officer happy.

Ditto. I also saw Sgt Supaporn last week for my retirement extension and as you say very friendly and helpful.The easiest one I have ever done in the last 5 years.She even started 10 mins early, got there at 8.45 and I was having a roti breakfast in Phuket town at 9.45.

It seems a lot friendlier there now and a bit more laid back now they wear yellow T-shirts instead of the imposing uniforms.

We went last week too and, yes, they were very relaxed and friendly - but everyone in pink t-shirts (well, it was pink Tuesday).
