If You Live In The Surin Area

What is the name of the nearest border town for visa runs?

I'm thinking of the rd that leads to Anlong Veng in Cambo.

Has anyone been to Anlong Veng since the new bridge was opened recently?

TIA :o

Nearest border crossing to Surin is Chong Chom (Kampuchea) approx 70 km south through Prasat and Kab Cheong.

The nearest to Surin is Chong Chom/Osmach,which is 70 km's from the city. There are two casino's there as well as a good market. There is also an immigration office at Kap Choeng which is 20k's inside Thailand on the Chong Chom rd. You can get your non-immigrant O or B or retirement visa's there. Kap Choeng is also a check in point for the three monthly checks. Never been to (or heard of) Anlong Veng, but I did venture to Chong Mek recently. It is all under new construction there, and rumour has that when everything is finished you can get your visas there.

Thank you.

There was a 10 minute doc on the tv last night about a new bridge joining up Anlong with the rest of Cambo and it mentioned being nr the Thai border.

It was/is Pol Pots last resting place, under a pile of garbage..... how fitting!

Loads of landmines uncleared everywhere. :o
