wanted to see if anyone has any good ideas regarding pubs/bars/nightclubs that play good live rock. does not really matter if it's farang or thai music, or same with the people, but rather not go to a "sit down" place. somthing like the bars in lang kwai fong in h.k..i like the band at the hard rock, but i don't like to bring my (non b/g) girlfriend there, with all the freelancers around. i figure there has to be better places to go, right? thanks... :cool:

Well you said "live Rock" music and that is a very general definition but I know there is a place called the Metal Zone in BKK on Soi Langsuan but I believe they play Hard Rock music.  Not sure if that is what your interested in?

Saxaphone bar , Sky Train Victory Monument can have some good nights, changes from night to night, Thai Western rock even some Japanese folk. OK to take g/f, I take my wife and no problems. Have a beer for me I am in a DRY country!!

Anyone know of a dedicated blues club?...clientle and performers only go there for the blues alone? Chicago, Oakland/West Coast, Memphis type music. Not necessarily just falang performers...anyone can play good blues if they got the technique and the spirit. I have heard of similar places in other SE Asia big cities.

Probably too much to ask if they got ribs, chicken and soul food on the menu...

thanks for the tips... been to saxophone and like it ok, metal zone sounds interesting but haven't been there yet.. not really looking for a hard rock place, but it would be worth checking out i guess.. tutsi, regarding blues bars, i went to brown sugar on soi sarasin (off lang suan) once, and they were playing pretty good blues, at least that night. not sure about the chicken and ribs etc., but maybe worth looking into. thanks... :cool:
