Moving An Electric Meter

Featured Replies

Anyone ever moved their electric meter? I need to move mine because of theft and poor supply.

The meter is about 200 metres from my house, on the other side of a klong. The govt. has put ina new supply and transformer about 50 metres from the house, which would be a lot better. (I get anything from 170 Volts to 220V)

The only thing is, has anyone moved their meter before?, I "changed" meters, and after paying about 4500 baht for the first 5 Amp meter, was charged another 4500 baht for an upgrade to a 15 Amp meter, plus they took the old meter away to re use!

You can BUY a meter for less than 800 Baht!

All I want is for the electric company to disconnect it and move it a few hundred metres around the corner, the supply to the house, I will take care of...

Plus, it will stop these thieving gits connecting to my supply (which is out of site) for free!

Just looking to see if anyone has done his before and what to expect to pay.

Cheers

Anyone? (I'm interested in doing this too)

The answer is at the local PEA office. A trip there to ask should answer the question.

If you are not an electrican, I would not be d*cking around with things you dont know about when it comes to electricity, certainly the way things are "wired" up in Thailand.
