Import Motobikes

What are the regs (if any) on importing motobikes into the country.

used motorbikes cannot, for new ones you will need a permit from the land transportation department.

I hate to disagree with you on this one Raro, but I spoke with our customs manager and was told the following:

1. For used motorcycles it requires a permit and you are only allowed one used motorcycle per person

2. For new motorcyles, no import permit is needed

3. For both Duty = 60% (CIF value) and VAT = 7% (CIF + Duty)

Can you advise if this would be a temporary import or a normal import entry.

1. correct if the motorcycle is coming together with your personnel effects shipment and you are willing to go through the paperwork. I do not know anybody who actually went through this ordeal and we get similar requests every other week.

As for 2: also correct, there is no problem upon the import but you will need it for the registration.

I intend to on sell the new bikes once i have imported them so it would be a normal import. Do you currently import bikes mate?
