Patong Motorbike Taxi Killer In Court Today

There appears to be a problem with Thaigerd's post on the same subject - so here is the article again:

Patong motorbike taxi killer in court today

PATONG: Low-season desperation for passengers took a deadly turn Saturday night, when a motorcycle taxi driver gunned down a rival from a competing queue in Patong.

The alleged killer, who turned himself in the following day, was no stranger to being handcuffed: he was out on bail for the May 19 shooting murder of another man inside a 7-Eleven store on nearby Nanai Rd.

Pol Maj Gen Apirak Hongthong, the omnipresent Phuket Provincial Police Commander, made his way to the murder scene after being informed of the shooting at 10 pm by Kathu Police Superintendent Col Grissak Songmoonnark.

<snip>

We will not allow his release on bail under any circumstances,” he said.

Chainart is scheduled to appear before Phuket Provincial Court today.

Stable doors, horses bolting, learning.... slowly learning...

I know TIT but he had previously escaped form a drug treatment facility and was OUT ON BAIL for committing murder only 4 months ago?!?! Just when I think I've heard it all 'Amazing Thailand' strikes again..

JetSetBkk, yeah, I especially like the part where they emphasize that there's no bail for him this time. :o

It'd be interesting to hear how the case goes and if he gets real time.

Knowing the Thai Media, they'll never follow up. :o

I have just been told that the Police don't know who the shooter was so the just pinned it on the 7-11 shooter.

:o
