Have been quoted a very high price to repair the air conditioner in my Toyota Soluna by the Toyota workshop. Can anyone recommend any independent repair shops/air con specialists in the above towns.

Try any radiator repair shop, or place that recharges air cons. They will get it done. Parts the same as older corollas. Same issue with Ford diff, 40K at Ford 10K local parts place, including new bearings seals and brake shoes. Check the manufacturers name on the boxes. Original will be Denso probably

There is a place in Surin, about 100 meters beyond the main Chevrolet dealer as you come into town from Prasat. Nothing to look at from the outside but recommended to me by some local Thais. I once took someone to this place to get his air-con repaired / working again and the quote was under 10K using original parts. They are happy to look at your air-con and give an estimate before they start work. Hope this helps.

In Khorat there is a place just opposite the Thai Hotel on Highway 2 in the city (i.e. not the bypass). This is just along from the junction near Big C. A few years ago I had the blower motor repaired (it had seized) and the system flushed and re-gassed for about 5K. Don't know the price now though.
