My wife talks to herself all the time.

Actually she thinks that she is talking to me and accepts my occasional nods and yes'es as my listening to her. I get caught out at times though: "What do you mean yes?" whoops.

Not a problem if you just use the Isaan acceptance noise, the closest I can get to it in type is 'urrr' ..... it doesn't mean 'yes' it doesn't mean 'no' ... it just means 'I agree', or depending on the inflection (very few of those in Thai) 'do you agree'

You can carry on a conversation that is very heavily weighted on one side for hours by just saying 'urrr'

Which brings up the question then. Is singing alone (with no one around) the same as talking to yourself?

Which brings up the question, if a man talks alone, is he still wrong? :D:D

I talk to myself all the time, have done for years, it's my way of sorting out problems or internal issues. I also find myself have whole one sided conversatiosn with my son, esp when out with just him. Gets a bit boring when out with a baby alone so we have a little dialogue but I perform both sides (his replies as well) & if he does deem to grace me with a reaction I just intergrate that into the coversation too :D

I fond that as I work from home full time & spend whole days not talking to anyone I have a little chat with myself to keep my sanity :D:o

I don't have to talk, to be wrong apparently :D

Good luck

Yep, do it all the time, especially when I'm driving on me todd. I just think of it as thinking aloud, you know? :o

When I had my kitties, i would talk to them SO much. I REALLY miss that. Now I sometimes will have a conversation in my head and then my head will nod or shake or i may gesticulate. Sometimes i will think out loud about something. Mainly the only time i talk out loud alone is when im feeling emotional in some way. I find it helps if im frustrated and angry with someone to imagine them sitting in front of me and i unleash all the babble and nonsense going on in my head out at them. That way i offload my emotion, set the flood gates open for a good cry, and clear my head, all without hurting the person im frustrated with. Then, if i still need to, i can address the problem to them rationally, rather than like some irrational wailing banshee. :o

Talking to yourself is usually ok. Animated solo conversations; self-arguing; or flailing around lavishly at imaginary assailants however, is another matter... :D Its just a matter of degree.

I think I saw you in Sainsbury's last week. :o:D:D

I used to work with someone that spoke aloud to his Indian spirit guide during the day, even in the elevator amoung other people.

Is it possible to talk at yourself?

No doubt the Indian Spirit was Gin.

I can talk at myself as well.

I understood it as having an argument with yourself - which can be quite fulfilling. depending on the argument obviously.

Me - i hate you

me -i hate you too

me - bla bla bla

me- lost the argument

what about if parts of your body talk back? My stomach is talking to me now (but sounds like gobbuldy-gook)

There are often other parts of the body talking on here :o

Present company excepted of course :D

Good Luck

If I didn't know better I could mistakenly think that Limpy was inferring the the "foolish, stupid, and moron one" was me

When he returns after his 7 day holiday from the forum he can explain that this was not so

:D
