Just hoping someone can clear this up : i read on a webpage detailing some of Thailand's Customs regulations that personal effects [ incl jewelry ] over 10,000 baht is ? subject to flat rate of duty!!!

What happens if you arrive with sundry rings and necklaces on person to value of 150 - 200k baht?

i wear these family heirlooms everywhere and did not imagine they could be regarded as dutiable goods, or am i just misreading the information page?

thanks pedr

Nice center alignment pedr.

Firstly, don't be too bothered with this as long as you are not parading around the Hope Diamond. But more important, I think your family heirlooms would be much more secure where you are than here. Just my thoughts.

Not only *your* thoughts. :-)

Read through the Pattaya News forum, or read the online Pattaya newspapers: on a regular basis unsuspecting tourists have gold chains ripped off their necks by passing motorcycle thieves. Not only the loss of a family heirloom, perhaps, but risk of injury or worse...
