Personally I doubt very much he's on Samui. Joran is a smart guy and reads the Dutch news online via internet.

EVERY single Dutch tourist will recognize him from 100 meters distance, whether in a bar, restaurant or on the beach and will immediately -within 1 minute- send an SMS to Holland to friends and family who will report that to the newspapers and Peter R. de Vries.

That he would hide himslf on an island isn't the smartest think he could possibly do, but.....who knows ?

Cheers animatic but I'm afraid did try Yahoo and its news section, running many searches for the article (also tried Yahoo Thailand and Google) and thought that seeing as Scott had already found the article perhaps he would be kind enough to post it for all to see. I guess for some people this was asking a bit too much. Never let it be said that an opportunity to flame someone is missed.

NOTE: I have to admit I was very very sceptical and I was posting my comments below, but I have to add/edit a few things (from #4 onwards), after I had been searching the web.

I came across a few VERY SHOCKING VIDEOS, apparently taped in Thailand (Samui ?) but since I haven't watched them all yet I can't yet comment on them all (at least 6 videos I believe)

My earlier written comments to member newhome:

1. The website you provided is not exactly known for as the most reliable; the Thai link to Pantip dot com doesn't speak about an arrest on Samui

2. The photo in that article (from November 12 !) is photo shopped as I recognized the photo * and was taken 3 years ago on Aruba; see link below -page 7- and posted on page 1 of this thread.

3. There is NOTHING on the news in The Netherlands about such an arrest in Thailand and/or Joran being in the infamous Bangkwang prison in Bangkok; it would have been front page news in Holland.

4. Today -25-11-2008- there was an article by a reliable news source ** RNW - Radio Netherlands Worldwide- reporting that FOX News TV from the USA claimed that they had an interview with Joran van der Sloot in which he said that Natalee Holloway was "sold there to a Venezuelan man who 'wanted a blonde girl', Mr Van der Sloot told Fox News TV.".

so far my earlier comments to member newhome before I found the other news:

5. VIDEOS by Greta van Susteren; Greta is a FOX journalist and she has been on the Natalee Holloway case since the beginning. From what I've seen so far in the first video, she flew all the way to Thailand to interview Joran van der Sloot about the disappearance of Natalee.

6. It is absolutely unbelievable that there is still NOTHING in the press in Holland as far as I have been searching and that's real odd; but, it was probably aired in the US, yesterday November 24, and because of the time-difference there could be a gap in ''reaching'' Thailand and/or The Netherlands.

7. From what I have seen in the first video, Joran says that he knew a Venezuelan man for some time who asked him if he could take care/deliver a ''blonde girl".

I have to add though that Joran has told already so many stories/lies about Natalee that nobody knows anymore what's true and what's not.

Four different highly respected Professors/Doctors in Psychology watched 9 1/2 (!) hours of secretly taped interviews in the specially prepared Range Rover, earlier this year in Holland and all four of them came to the conclusion that Joran spoke the TRUTH during those hours, meaning that he was telling the truth when he told the undercover guy that he got disposed of Natalee's body (with help) in the ocean.

So....where's the truth..?? but as I mentioned, I haven't seen the other tapes yet, but will soon and maybe get back on this.

UPDATE:

According to Peter R. de Vries*** the FOX Video tapes are probably already 6 months old and never aired before by FOX news because they didn't trust Joran's stories themselves.

Only AFTER there was more news about Joran because of his alleged involvement in womens' trafficking they decided to air the tapes.

Peter de Vries doesn't believe Joran at all and thinks it is -again- another clever move by Joran to confuse the police and investigators.

According to De Vries, Joran's move is made because he himself prefers better to make people believe he is a compulsive liar rather than the man (boy that time) who made Natalee Holloway disappear.

Beth, the Mother of Natalee doesn't believe the story also, that Natalee would still be alive (sold and transported to Venezuela).

I think problem with Joran - he is a compulsive liar plain/simple who does so for attention. Hence the Holloway case - is he telling the truth - no fking clue, but since he is a compulsive liar doubt we will ever know. There is no witness(s) nor physical evidence of a crime, no body - so basically suspicions based on Joran's lies.

It never ceases to amaze me how so many bad apples end up here in Thailand. The immgration officials might want to start googling names so they know who they are letting in the country.

That would be as bad as the US no fly list. Where suspected terrorists etc are added to the list. Share your name with someone on that list and you don't fly.

I seem to remember reading an 18 month old kid being refused because his name was on the list.

LIMA, Peru (KABC) -- Joran van der Sloot, the prime suspect in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, is suspected of murdering 21-year-old Stephany Tatiana Flores Ramirez in Peru, ABC News has confirmed.

Ramirez was found dead Wednesday morning at the hotel Tac in the Lima neighborhood Miraflores, after disappearing on Friday. According to broadcast reports, the room was trashed and the sheets were covered in blood.

Family members said Van der Sloot, now 22, was the last person to be seen with the woman before her death. Van der Sloot reportedly met Ramirez in a casino in Miraflores.

ABC News' Christine Brouwer reports that Aruban authorities have confirmed the report. Ann Angela, a spokeswoman for the Aruban public prosecutor's office, says the public prosecutor has received a call from Peruvian authorities confirming that Van der Sloot is a suspect in Ramirez's disappearance and murder.

Reporter Sharon Stevenson says Joran van der Sloot has left the country, passing through customs to Chile, according to Peruvian officials. They believe he may be headed to Argentina, but it appears he is on the run.

In Peruvian media reports, Ramirez's father Ricardo Flores, a prominent race car driver and businessman, said his daughter left with friends Friday morning and was last seen at 5:16 p.m. leaving a casino with Van der Sloot.

May 30 marked the five year anniversary of Natalee Holloway's disappearance. The 18-year-old from Mountain Brook, Alabama, disappeared while on vacation in Aruba in 2005 and was last seen leaving a bar with Van der Sloot on the final night of a high school graduation trip.

Van der Sloot, the son of a Dutch diplomat, has been detained several times, but Aruban prosecutors say they lack evidence to charge him.
