Motorbike Crash Helmets

Featured Replies

got a funny feeling the 199 baht ones in tesco would do more harm then good and are only usefull for when the police are making a collection....

So... is there anywhere on samui where you can buy a decent helmet??

cheers.

There's a couple of bike rental shops on the ring road just before Lamai (coming from Chaweng) which appear to have a selection of lids on display

If you want a real helmet with a DOT/Snell certification, you won't find one on Samui.

You can try The Paddock or Teera Motorcycles in Bangkok and try to find a Shoei or Arai helmet.

It would probably be cheaper to get one from the States or UK via airmail if you know your size.

It will be expensive either way, but how much is your head worth? :o

There's a shop on Bang por that sells DOT/snell certified helmets, I don't know the name of the shop but if your coming from Maenam way it's on the end of a row of peach/orange colour townhouse's on the right hand side as you go into Bangpor

I had my Shoei cut off of my helmet lock recently in Soi Reggae, leaving me with the 2 buckles dangling under the seat. So if you do buy a decent one, I would suggest you take it with you.

If you pay more for a showy helmet (arai nah?), it might get stolen. None of my Nolans have ever gotten stolen, including the hinged chin flip model I paid $229 for in the States. You can get a reasonably decent full-face helmet for about 1,500 baht, if you can find one that really fits you.
