Young Man Electrocuted

Yesterday I attended the cremation of a friend of mine who was one of the nicest people I have ever met. He was electrocuted on Saturday in a local marina while trying to get off a boat which was standing on the hard. His death is the 4th this year in this particular marina. The electrocution was due to the fact that the circuit breaker on the power pedestal was not wired into the line and the wiring would have had to have been cross connected according to an electrical engineer, because when the switch was turned on by a fellow workmate, the whole boat this young man was standing on, became 'hot". When my friend grabbed the safety wire to turn and get onto the ladder in the act of getting off the boat, he was fried. He was given CPR on the spot but died on the way to hospital. He leaves a wife and 3 year old daughter.

When a qualified electrician arrived to make an inspection of the pedestal four hours later, the marina staff had already installed a new circuit breaker and put a padlock on the pedestal.

The workers reported this death to the police and a copy of the report was translated into English for the benefit of my friend's employer who is a foreigner. The police report stated that "the family did not blame the marina in any way as they realised that this was an accident ". Absolute buffalo manure!! The family did not report the matter and were never interviewed by the police. Obviously this marina has the BIB well paid off. The marina staff were told not to talk about the incident and to this date no one from the marina ever talked to the family, sent flowers to the funeral or sent a representative. I cannot begin to express my disgust. For those of you with boats and need to know which marina it is, then PM me. I am advising all my clients not to do any work on the hardstand in this marina as it is completely unsafe.

HI

Why not tell us all which one

Legal issues. The OP is trying to help people, not get hit with a lawsuit or some idiot threatening him. If someone wants to know they can PM him as he writes.

Quality of power is crap in this country. Many a "electrician" in hotels get fried from their own incompetency.

When i gutten my condo, and had is re-done, had to pull out all the fittings and resecure all the power cables which were not screwed in properly ( just loose ).

As the title says; How To Get Away With Murder.

Very sad and very criminal, but I'm sure liability will never be established.
