Where To Find Windscreen For Yamaha Xjr 1300cc

nakedAIR1300

Recommended Posts

Since my recent trip to Kanchantaburi, Chiang Mai and finally Bang Saen I have been thinking of getting a small/medium windscreen for the XJR1300 but havent been able to located one online in Bangkok.

Once I hit speeds of around 170km/hr it becomes a little uncomfortable to ride because of the nakedAIR

I would preferably like something I can remove easily for riding around Bangkok...

any suggestions would be great..thanx in advance

There is a shop at the RCA that has quite alot of screens in stock. They usually can get one to fit your bike even though it is not model specific.

Good luck

hope they have something nice for me.. i really need one before fridays trip to Chiang Mai

If you enter the RCA from the Rama 9 road. You drive down past Britbike (Triumph dealer), past Big Twin (Harley) and you see a shop next door to Extremebikes. Pop in there and ask the staff for a screen. They will try and help you.

There is a 50/50 chance that I will also be riding to CM. If I see you on the road. I'll wave to you as I pass by. LOL

great news, after spending half a day searching dead ends looking for a screen i got a call from Allan (thaicbr)with some numbers so i went to check them out and they turned out awesome

RCA has some but only for late model Yamahas ect

anyway i went to one shop call Stadium and got served by an Indian guy who looked like the owners son and he told me to wait a while, so i waited and after 20 mins the father came and asked me again what i wanted, he said he didnt have but he would ring some friends and try to source a screen... cool ... so anyway after speaking to him in english he didnt know that i could understand a little thai and i heard him agree on the price for the screen on the phone with his contact which was 600 baht and then he ended the conversation telling the guy on the phone he would give me a special price and ring them back

special... after punching some didgits on the calculator for a while he offered me the screen for 6000 baht. i thought i misheard him and asked him again in thai how much he just quoted me and he said 6000 baht special price. i left pretty quick. avoid this shop!

another small thing i noticed while there was the products they had in stock were all cheap cheap quality products but i did see some chain wax same brand as they sell in fast corner for 370 baht a small can in which fastcorner sells before discount for 300... so they are jokers there, dont waster your time!!

met up with Tony for lunch and went to the Kawasaki shop and checked out their bikes, nice! then went to Yamaha shop to check out their new bikes, a very impressive showroom and very impressive new range of bikes. im going to get something early next year i think!

headed off with Tony as a pillion to 1118 bikes (www.118bikes.com) in ladprao soi 23.... nice shop, friendly people and a reasonable selection of Real helmets and accessories. i got the screen for an XJR for 650 baht, a real helmet for my lady companion for 1500 baht and some drop pegs (incase i even do drop my bike). Phone: 02 98 9618

quick stop in Paddock to get some repairs to my helmet and Tony looking at some sexy leather pants with sliders for the track and twisties but they couldnt settle on price so left if for another day

went back to pick up Tonys baby Ninja at the Kawasaki showroom and asked if they could fit the screen for me, since it was a Yamaha bike they wouldnt touch it... but it was funny trying to get them to do it. So instead i test drove the heck outt of their D Tracker over every bump in the car park i could find then went to Mr T Big Bike on Rama 3 who fitted the screen for me for 50 baht... nice guys there also (rama 3 opposite SV city) Phone: 02 294 0261

all in all a good day and learnt alot about different shops and what they had on offer

Hello,

Did you change the exhaust by yourself? if yes, would you mind telling me how much?

how does it sound?

A friend of mine just bought an XJR 1300 SP year 2003 with 10,000km last week. It's already under complete customizing... but still look for the exhaust..

Thank you

Thanx all for your help, i got it sorted quicker than i though with help from some great knowledgable people

Looks really good; when you going to get some anodized forks to complement your shocks? I'm real tight (courtesy of my grandmum), but love to live vicariously through those that are willing to drop the money on projects such as this. Give us a report on the benefits.

Drop your forks 5-10mm and change the fork oil to 15w, put in progressive springs. Stiffens up the front end and turns in a lot quicker.

thanx for the input, i have spoken with my mechanic and we will look into this one. dropping the load and also oil isnt a problem but where to purchase the springs from ??

i am in the middle of a repray, service and some other minor adjustments as we speak. i want a new windscreen again as this one doesnt really do it for me. unless i lay down flat on the tank its not really good over around 170km/hr. when i am using a tank bag it would be pretty much useless so im still looking for a nice windscreen or possibly an aftermarket fairing to suit my bike

if i know where to source the mods you spoke of then i would be keen to look into anodized forks. do you have a good contact in Bangkok??

Drop your forks 5-10mm and change the fork oil to 15w, put in progressive springs. Stiffens up the front end and turns in a lot quicker.

I would suggest no more than 5mm. Messing around with the geometry has it pros and cons.

Dropping the front or raising the rear. Gives better turn in rate at the expense of straight line stability. Also transfering more weight to the front reduces traction to the rear. Fair enough you would only notice this in a track enviroment when pushing the limits of the bike.

Try fitting aftermarket suspensions. This alone will improve the ride, handling and also help you improve confidence in the bike. Since it will feel so much better over stock items.

Warning: Modding a bike is addictive and will cost a small fortune.

Yeah I done a fair bit.

Still debating whether to get carbon fiber wheels. :o

what benefits does carbon fiber wheels have for you at the track ?

i know carbon fiber anything is expensive!

it reduces weight by a large margin over a standard wheel.

Thus gives quicker turn in, faster acceleration and better braking. Since there is less weight to turn, move and stop.

On a bike, everything is about weight. Less weight makes for a better handling bike.

so with my bike being dry weight 234 kg + 84 kilo rider i have to do some serious weight reduction.. my bike and i will hit the gym tonight

Yep, Dani Pedrosa Honda MotoGP rider. Who is like only 5' tall and struggle to weigh more than 40 kgs take less effort to stop his bike than his racing team mate Nicky Hayden.

Yeap less rotating mass to start and stop (tho I reckon the turn in change would be really marginal ??)..

Hence why the Thai lad have those skinny wired rims on thier pocket rockets. Makes a very noticiable difference in those lower powered type machines but hellish wet cornering.
