Where To Find Windscreen For Yamaha Xjr 1300cc

Yeah I done a fair bit.

Still debating whether to get carbon fiber wheels. :o

what benefits does carbon fiber wheels have for you at the track ?

i know carbon fiber anything is expensive!

it reduces weight by a large margin over a standard wheel.

Thus gives quicker turn in, faster acceleration and better braking. Since there is less weight to turn, move and stop.

On a bike, everything is about weight. Less weight makes for a better handling bike.

Yeap less rotating mass to start and stop (tho I reckon the turn in change would be really marginal ??)..

Hence why the Thai lad have those skinny wired rims on thier pocket rockets. Makes a very noticiable difference in those lower powered type machines but hellish wet cornering.

I cannot speak for the pocket rocket.

But track bikes using these wheels find them beneficial for turn in rate. As it takes less effort to turn. They have a gyroscopic effect. The heavier the wheel the harder it will be to turn / tilt the wheel. This applies when you lean bike into corners. make it easier and certainly a godsend when you go thru chicanes. Doing a series of left to right and vice versa flicks.

First, nakedair, I don't know where in BKK you can purchase some nice forks....perhaps someone can chime in.

I'd like to comment on the whole skinny tyre debate. Firstly it's stupid. Granted it gives fantastic 'flickability' due to the aforementioned lower interia and gyroscopic effect. However, you lose a lot of traction due to the incredibly small contact patch. So how much less power can you actually apply to the tyre when taking off? Thus you can actually lose time off the line. Small contact patch means more nervousness in the corners; when do you know you've reached the edge and are about to pass it resulting in a nasty slide?

Smaller tyres result in smaller sidewalls which translates into more shocks being transferred up through the forks and into your steering. Does this result in more feedback or more distraction? I suppose that if you have a 0,25 cm^2 contact patch it's more feedback so you get a better idea when the 'oh the shit has hit the fan' moment is there.

And what about braking? Been discussed ad nasuem so I'll leave it alone.

they arent high enough, i think they look rubbish to be honest. looking for something more like the XJR 2003SP fairing if i can find it

will need to change the headlight also if i change the fairing but i think it will be worth it for the comfort at speed

I still think you should go have a look in the parts area at Red Baron- it's amazing the stuff you can find there and you might just get lucky!

Heh heh- wow, riding a dream has to be almost as embarrassing for you as riding bitch on the T-rex was for me :D

Maybe I'll steal the nanny's Clit... um, er, I meant to say CLICK :o:wai::D so that we can look equally foolish when we pull into Red Baron.

I have to run to the weekend market in the morning plus a couple of other stops but should be free to hit up Red Baron in the early afternoon so give me a ring and I'll see you there.

Might be that Allan will be the quickest of the three! :D I'll definitely bring a camera :D

Hmmm, "nervousness in corners" and "nasty slides"... Sounds oddly familiar :o

Go ahead and rub it in; I was speaking from experience!

Watch out if you buy any Powerbronze stuff some of it is cheap, ill-fitting sh*t. Carbon wheels reduce unsprung weight, added stiffness all the usual crap that means nothing in the real world except you can spout off at the local watering hole that you can ride like Rossi and they "only" cost" 100,000B. Hagon in the UK & Wilbers in Germany plus a few others do progressive fork springs for the XJR. There is a few cheap mods you can do, taking the airbox cover off and chopping down the bit that sticks out is one, stick in a K&N filter while you are there. 36Y inlet rubbers is another one for 100 quid, the ones you have fitted are probably restricted. They add 5 to 10HP(dynoed and proved). The clutch is pretty piss poor too, put in 2 clutch springs or get a Barnett clutch conversion kit. Slave cylinder seals leak after a relatively short time. They sell 1450 big bore kits in the US that I am thinking of buying. PM me if you want details of the mods or where to get stuff.

Regards

Jim

i purchased a second hand fairing from Red Baron on the weekend. Its black but i can repaint it easily as my bike is being resprayed as we speak. it didnt come with the windscreen only the fibreglass and i will need to get one custom made... any ideas? the boys at Red Baron told me to see the boys at Stadium but after my last visit there where they tried to charge me 6000 baht for a 650 baht product im a little hesitant to see them again unless i really have to

so again my question is "where can i send the fairing to get a custom made windscreen"?

thanx for your input
