Riverfront Land, House Or Resort For Sale?

Featured Replies

I've been searching on the internet for Maekong riverfront land, houses or small resort and have found many downriver in the Nong Khai area, but none upriver near Chiang Saen, Chiang Khong.

Any contacts appreciated....or if you have anything, please PM me.

Why don't you spend a couple of days driving around up there making inquiries?

I do plan that, but just looking at this point. Anyone know of any reliable agents that know that area??

We may possibly be able to give you some useful info, as have contacts in that area I will PM some details.

A couple of years ago ..

The drive along the river from Chiang Saen to Chiang Khong is great. Take your time and enjoy. The stretch of river just north of Chiang Khong is very different than most other stretches of the river that I have seen. Huge rocks out in the river, swifter water, etc. One can almost believe about the caves in the river where giant catfish are said to spawn .. I just don't believe the caves are lined with gold. :D

About half way(?), I ran across a coffee shop where the owner was building a resort on the bank of the river. Nice little teak bungalows perched on the bank looking up river. Manicured organic veggie gardens all around a wooden deck where it's nice to relax, drink your coffee and look at the river. A restaurant floats just meters from the bungalows. The place is probably finished now.

The woodwork on the bungalows seemed first rate. Same for the deck. Planks had beveled edges and had been assembled with wooden pegs.

Across the highway are more bungalows, down at the end of a "boardwalk" just above the top of the plants in a rice paddy .. several hundred meters. A unique experience, even in daylight.

Probably not to be recommended late at night after too many brewskis .. no handrails! :o

Surely looks to be the same place .. all finished now. Rates seem a bit dear, but I doubt anyone would spend a week.:D
