wrbc Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 the arch support insoles i buy in canada for about $20 seem to have worn out, and they now allow the first joint of my foot behind my big toe to sink in to them too deeply, causing pain there. i went to airport plaza today, to robinsons, bootes, some athletic shoe store and not only could i not get any, but they had no idea of how or where i could get them. as i walk about 6 hours a day, i am concerned that this may cut back, if not stop, my walking. anyone have any idea of where and/or how i can get any?

They might be available here but I haven't run across any quality ones. Just buy them online and have your family or friends mail to you registered mail in an envelope or small box. It would cost me about $15 USD to have something that size shipped to me. I have never lost a package and takes about 8-10 days.
noise Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 the arch support insoles ........ anyone have any idea of where and/or how i can get any? I went to orthpaedics at Chiangmai Ram, Dr Tasaporn, with plantar facitiis and he said he could refer me to the specialist that would make me support insoles if I wanted them. I elected to try just letting my foot heal by itself (which it did), so I can not give you more detailed information. But you could probably get the same referral by just asking and not incurring a bill for a visit.

Hi WRBC, Cannot help you in Chiang Mai but BNH Hospital in BKK will make a print of your feet and custom-make them for you. Not cheap at USD 250 but if you walk 6 hrs a day I would invest in my soles. Call first since you have to make an appointment. Cheers R'steeltje
ataloss Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 There's a good shoe cobler and repair shop directly across from Rajabhat on Chotana. The owner speaks English. He stated that most orthopedics and hospitals refer their patients to him: those needing specially-designed footware for whatever reason. He does most any design you like, incorporating the required foot support element. There are lots of samples. It's a shophouse, not a shoe boutique, with lots of cut leather, rubber etal in the background. Alledgedly not too expensive, but unconfirmed as my colleague has yet to go for a consultation. Possibly a visit may be in order. Good luck.
