Honda 400cc 'vintage' Reissue?

Featured Replies

I was at a recording studio in Bangkok today and one of the musicians arrived on a nice-looking 400cc Honda that looked like something from the 60s or 70s. He said it was new, a 'reissue' of a sort, if I understood him correctly. Anyone know anything about this bike, or where I might find one in Bangkok or Chiang Mai?

The one isn the video is not it. It's definitely the Honda CB400SS, as in the photo further up the page. Does anyone know where this is available in Thailand? I know you can buy them here, as I talked to an owner and he said he bought it from a dealer in BKK. I didn't get a chance to ask him where.

Loads of those.. But many customised into everything from off roaders, cafe racers, etc etc..

Honda do not sell the CB themselves here..

The SR is kinda common around CM it seemed to me, very rare down south here.

Need to trawl the thai sites.. Usual mocyc d-bigbike etc forums.. Didnt someone even post a specific SR thai fansite ??

Of course plates being the main stumbling block.

I did find a few listed on mocyc and d-bigbike, will see how that pans out. Not so worried about plates as I'd ride it up north where the police don't bother so much. I'd rather buy up north as well. The SS's listed on the websites are in BKK and Pattaya.

The guy who was driving one last weekend had plates. How does one get plates/reg for bikes like this?

If anyone remembers the Thai fansite, let me know as I'd like to check it out.

If you see some guy riding around one on, chat him up (once he has stopped). Chances are he'll tell you where you could buy one, or even offer his bike. I've had 4 offers like this, one of which was very tempting with book and plate, but I was on my way out of the country and didn't have time to make the arrangements.

Gorgeous things, just try to remember to not ride them the way you ride your CBR/R1 :o
