Expect it to cost more than the value of a phantom..

Bikes are cheaper back there.. And you will have access to the parts etc.. Sell it..

For reference I was quoted 1000 GBP ballpark to ship UK to here.. A bike like a phantom wouldnt be worth the cost IMO.

Plus if Honda does not have the exact same model on the roads in Holland (of which I'm almost sure as the Phantom is Thai made specially for the Asian market), it will be close to impossible to get registered and insured!

Don't know about Holland but in the UK, personal import of bikes can be done fairly easily and no problem registering strange machines as long as you can prove that the import taxes have been paid. I assume the shipping cost includes those import taxes to Holland, as the cost of just shipping a bike is way less than that. If you are returning to Euroland there may be some conscessions if the bike is classed as a personal possession that has been owned for more than six months.

1) No that shipping price was not including any taxes, if you can 'substantially' beat that for air freight or show me a sea freight that takes less than months and gets here I would love to know about it..

2) I dont think 'any bike' can be registered low cost.. If the bike has (in the UK at least) type approval, so the same model is sold there, then its low cost.. If it doesnt have type approval (which a model thats not sold there wouldnt have) then they have to pay for all the tests, emmisions being the big one, and of course brakes, lights and the usual safety checks..

3) If the bike is less than 8 something years (100 months) theres a % of its new price VAT to Pay.. Into Holland theres HUGE taxes in BTW and another HUGE one (cant remember the 3 letters now now but they wanted literally 40k NLG to just register a car I had picked up with belgian plates.. I went and put UK plates on it for just processing costs). These rules are still country dependant and you would need to check with the Dutch in detail.

Lets face it, this is a phantom !! The dam_n thing is worth what ?? 40k ?? maybe 50 if its in top nick.. You can buy all manner of other machines in Holland for 1000 EUR without any of the hassle.
