Best / Biggest English Language Bookstore In Bangkok ?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

Very simple question : what would be the biggest, most impressive bookstore in Bangkok that sells english language fiction books ?

Need to impress the wife on our next trip, she's a complete bookworm.

She's also partial to manga in english language.

Kinokunya in Siam Paragon would be nicely suited, they even stock English language translations of Japanese manga.

I second Kinokunya in Siam Paragon. Very large comic book section plus everything else you need.

I third Kinokunya :o There is an AsiaBooks in the paragon as well, meaning that anyone that likes books can spend the whole day int this otherwise overpriced and useless mall.

Kinokunya is by far the best and the original in the Emporium is just as good as Siam Discovery if you are not Thai - no Thai books. :o

Kinokunya ... in the Emporium

This is my favourite. Maybe slightly smaller than the Paragon branch, but much more comfortable and browse-worthy.

I agree. The one in Siam covers their magazines with plastic, so you can't browse.

For some categories of books, like Science Fiction, Kinokunya is the best in Thailand.

Agree on Kinokunya ... in the Emporium, been a faithful source of reading material through the years, always on the ball with new fiction as well as reference.

Not so sure on the Paragon one, have avoided going into that mall as much as I can...

Once again, Kinokunya at Paragon definitely the biggest for shopping.

But if you are in Bangkok for a while, and your wife being a real bookworm; let me suggest you Neil's library.

Thanks a lot guys, that's really exactly what I was looking for.

The wife is big on Sci-Fi and Fantasy, I guess we'll have to go to Kinokunya on one of the first days (but then I'm afraid she'll spend the whole vacation reading and I'll be alone for sightseeing :o ).

Don't remember it's name but there's a very good 2nd hand bookshop on Sukhumvit, just past Soi 26. Two floors, run by an American guy. Maybe someone can help with the name!

Dasa cafe and second hand bookshop...

Elite Books is also close by and not bad. Across the street, down near Villa Supermarket.
