I only use my 135cc Nouvo once or twice a week (when is starts!!), but past bikes have coped with this infrequent use without problems. My Nouvo will not start if it's left unused for more than 3 or 4 days. The electric starter does not do anything productive and after 10 mins of whining the battery gives up. Kicking will result in it running for about 3 seconds, but it can't repeat the performance for another 15 minutes.

The dealer adjusted the auto-choke, and it seemed OK for a few weeks, but since the weather cooled off, I've not managed to get it to run for more than 30 seconds.

Any suggestions?

Anyone else with a 135cc Nouvo had this problem?

Not with Nuvo but i have the same problem with my Honda wave 100cc. I only use it to go to the washing lady once a week and i cant start it every week. I charge the battery and it works for like 1 day then its f'kd again.

Now that i sold my big bike and i driving the wave around i think it will get better each day but its annoying that after a couple of days on non use it doesnt start.

Lucky i park on level 2 so i just stick it in 2nd gear and roll down the ramp to get it started. Im too lazy too kick start it!

What fuel are you using. DO NOT USE GASOHOL if you dont ride every day. it gums up easily. i suggest you put some straight 91(red) in. and after a few days it will be fine.

Allans on the mark there.. Gasohol is associated with starting problems even in engines that tolerate it...

I put 91 in everything (and fill the car with 95 when I see it).. No probs on nuovos / airblades / old ropy wave / etc etc..

Thanks for the suggestions ..... I currently have a mix of fuels in the tank .... so I'll stick to 91 in future.

And I wish I could bump start it on a ramp - but it's an auto, so not sure if it's possible?

At least 135cc can't kick back like my old Norton, or even a Bullet.

Just had problems with one of my mio's. The first time I just replaced the carb, but on this bike I was being asked too much money, so asked a friend who was in the UK to bring some rubber seals back. Replaced the 3mm seal on the mixture screw (had visibly deteriated due to the use of gashol early on), and the valve which connects to the float and cuts the fuel entering the carb was sticking. Your bike will have a different carb if it's auto choke.

An earlier problem I had was the valve to tappet gap closing (at about 6,000km) leaving the valve slightly open which caused problems with the fuel being drawn into the chamber and the same starting problems you have
