How Do I Restore A Gloss To Granite Work Surface

Featured Replies

Afternoon all . . .

House going well, builders have managed to make my nice new granite

work surface dull and patchy looking with tiling cement - looks terrible!

Anyone know of anything to bring that 'as new' look?

Thanks

David

Rubbing/polishing compound and an orbital buffer. Basically go to homepro and ask them the same question and they will point you in the right direction. Your granite is dull because the workers put scratches in the granite's surface. To restore it you will need a compound (rubbing compound/polishing compound) that contains very small abrasives that will level out all the scratches and make the surface smooth again. You will need a machine/orbital buffer because you cannot do this by hand. Granite, in its natural state is not shiny and smooth. to make it smooth, they have to grind it and polish it, which is what you will have to do now that it is damaged.

Agree with sub. OR contact the granite supplier. Ask him to come out & look at it & tell you how much he charges to wet sand it. (Similar to what sub has suggested).

After it is wet sanded cover it in masking tape till the builders leave.
