many big rental-companies have promotion rates offering monthly rates around 15.000 THB at the moment.

just get yourself today's BANGKOK POST and browse the advertisement section.

for example, BUDGET was offering 299 THB per day, when renting for a month. that was excluding the insurance (which was 200 THB a day, if I remember that right), so it would be 15.000 THB incl. insurance.

TVR car-rent here in BKK have an offer as well: 13.900 THB per month, though I dont know 1.) if it includes premium-insurance (rather not) and 2.) if they have a branch in Phuket ("rather not", again)

For 15,000 you should have plenty of options! Jump on phuket.net, go to directory, motoring, car rental and drop heaps of companies an email stating what you want. That's what I did and I'm currently renting a Honda City (few years old) for 13,000 through Jikky Car Rental and it has been fine to date (touch wood) - 4 months now. Has full insurance etc. Imagine that CRV's will be more expensive though.
