What To Do With Gammon Stock - Soup Maybe?

Featured Replies

Just cooked/boiled a huge gammon joint with some herbs, bay leaf, and it is scrummy yummy, but I've tons of gammon stock leftover. Saved a little bit for tonight's sauce, filled all small freezer containers, filled all spare ice-cube containers, but still have about a pint left in the fridge.

Any ideas? Some kind of soup?

This kind of stock is perfect when cooking some kind of soups:

Ham&pea

Lentil stew soup

sauerkraut

That's very kind of you, young man! We shall be doing a supermarket-run later today - prob Big C and Tesco. I'm pretty sure I've seen them in both - but thank you all the same.

The gammon last night with a make-it-up-as-you-go-along port-wine sauce, sauteed paprika potatoes and leeks was just fab. But now we have a freezer full of something like 18 portions of cooked gammon and a mountain of gammon-stock-ice-cubes :o

How did the wagyu-burgers go?

"Young man".......... :o thanks for that.

With cooking at home I have the same problem like you: Always far too much and ending up in the deepfreezer, luckily having "some friends" who are helping me to clear my stock. My (Thai) landlord just asked my wife when I'm doing Lasagna again...........

The wagyu burgers went very well, 35 portions, next couple of weeks doing them again. Will send pm to you where in case you are interested to come along.

You could make some sauces, gravy, stew, cassoroles or soups.

:o

Reduced with other meats makes a nice sauce with ribs.
