Dear Sibey...

Dear Sibey, somebody is posting unauthorized photos of me all over Chiang Mai. Should I be upset?

Why didn't you give them the authorised photos?

Well, he just went into my gallery and helped himself.

Do you want to sue him or thank him?

You know what they say about publicity.

Well I WAS thinking of running for mayor as someone suggested. Do you know where I can get some skin darkener and my eyes done? However, I think I have to lose the beard and wear a black wig, but then the voting public won't recognize me. It is a conundrum.

Dear Sibey,

I have wondered why Australians have a thing about Kiwis crossing the Tasman to work in Australia.

I have known many who were headhunted, from my family inc.

Whar do you reckon?

This is in todays morning paper......

Aussie firms poaching NZ workers

New Zealand's "brain drain" of skilled workers across the Tasman looks set to worsen as big Australian companies arrive in Auckland offering "fantastic job opportunities and lifestyles".

Oz Jobs Expo, to be held at the ASB Showgrounds in Epsom on February 12 and 13, is being heavily promoted through full-page advertisements in newspapers.

Actually Kiwi workers are in great demand, are Australians the real dole bludgers at home.

Read the article, some will pick holes in the post.........

Australia's unemployment level is between 4% and 5%. This is considered to be full employment as there will always be a certain number of people who can't or won't be employed in any country.

With a boom starting to happen, workers, particularly tradesmen, are urgently required.

Getting these workers from Mexico (aka NZ) is an attractive option for employers in Oz because they speak english, are very close by, thus saving on travel costs, do not present a need to jump through hoops to get a 457 visa from immigration and are easy to accomodate once here because virtually all of them have relatives in Australia to assist in resettlement(about 12% of NZs population are already benefitting from living in the Lucky Country!).

And you can now relocate them all to Cairns - it'll make a change from earthquakes.

And OY!! What's all this about speaking English?? Can't understand a one of you until I've had a few (or more than a few). And it's the Queen's English, so get yer Republican butt outta here!

We can't understand the majority of Brit yobbos that come here....Queen's English indeed!!!! Whatsmore....if they have had a few, my comprehension level drops to one word in 30.

Yes Pete, it's true: Australian companies arrive in Auckland offering "fantastic job opportunities and lifestyles"

Yes, we're looking for garbos:

- Job opportunities: Ratting through the rubbish provides opportunites for finding little gems

- Lifestyle: Four hour day for most of them.

AND on top of all that, as much as they can eat, free!

Well, the West Island needs all the help it can get.

Bananas gunna be 12 bux a kilo again, very sad.

Hope to pop over sumtime this year with my Aline.

If ya around, we can possibly meet up, if weather permits ok the land of fire, swamp and stiff breezes.

Is CHANG available, it is here, 7 bux a bottle in NZ Thai restaurants.

Must check out a good likka store.

Cheers Ping :D

Sorry mate, back to Phuket in three weeks - for the cheap bananas. Probably not back to Oz until Jan or Feb next year, for a week or two (when the Aussie bananas will have come back down in price).

Tell me, why would you want to drink Chang at $7 a stubby (or at any price, for that matter)? If I was going to pay that much for an import, I'd go for a Grolsch or a Löwenbräu (or at your Thai restaurant, a Singha).

Dear Sibey,

I am glad to see this topic back on the front page of Bedlam.

Remember about a year ago I told you about this dark skin Afro girl with a cockney accent that I was so impressed with.

Well, after not seeing her for about a year she apparently came back to the condo where I stay.

I was waiting for a taxi and a taxi stopped and there she was, getting out of one with lot's of bags.

Condo staff helped her get all bags stuffed up in a golf cart.

She looks a bit like this girl.

post-21826-0-69863900-1297524432_thumb.j

When she passed me she said: Hi!

My brain went into overload, did she say Hi just to be friendly, did she say Hi because she remembered me and our first encounter while in the pool, did she say Hi because she liked what she was seeing?

I said Hi back and she continued her graceful walk to her apartment.

Been in and around the pool for the last four days but have not seen her yet.

What should I say or do when she finally comes to the pool?

Thanks in advance for your or any other persons advice, it is greatly appreciated!

Alex

They DO have that affect on us don't they Alex.

I've got another problem. I have two different ladies who both want to go to Mai Sai with me on my visa run. They are both young and attractive. I know one quite well and know what to expect. The other is entirely different, but intoxicating with her "newness" and fresh outlook on life. She's also not a bar girl so I don't know what to expect. Which would you choose if you were me?

Ahh, ya settling onto Phuket permanent like?

Good onya matey.

Bananas here about $A1.50 a kilo.

Filipino ones, far nicer than OZ 'nanas.

One trip to OZ some years back, 'nanas were over $A12.00, same story, cyclone.

How much they now?

I only drink Chang if showing off in a Thai reastaurant......LOL

NZ dark beers for me, hard to find dark beer in LoS, Guiness excepted.

Locally brewed Guiness in S.E.A is crapp.

Gunna be up that-a-way in May - June, mite stay in Patong for nite or 3 this time.

Cheers Ping.

It all depends what your look on life is, Ian.

Are you one of those "Grey sheep" or into having experiences that go beyond generally accepted (but within the law) values?

But the question you really have to ask yourself is what would be the interest/gain of those girls wanting to travel with you?

From your reply above I have the feeling that you expect some kind of experience, a dream or fantasy that you have in your mind while looking at them.

So in one case you think you know what to expect and in the other you do not.

You have to decide if you are willing to go beyond your boundaries or stay within them.

Decide which one is more likely to sell you to the Burmese Secret Police.

Then decide which experience you are looking for.

Thanks for the replies, Alex and HB. I only posted in jest... like most of the posts here. I always enjoy a new experience because I never know where it is going to lead. I've lived my whole life following one path... Never miss an opportunity to do anything within reason. Anything that doesn't kill or maim you usually makes you stronger. And, it certainly HAS been a great ride.

Yes i see the jest excuse again.

Anything goes for you that does not kill or maim.

What is it that you are looking for?

Pure pleasure and excitement, Alex, and I get a lot of both. I'm 71 and acting like I'm younger than my own kids. And, I'm getting away with it. I know in the not too distant future that I won't be able to do it any more, but at least I'll have enjoyed the ride. I'd hate to be sitting in my rocking chair when I eventually get old and think of all the things that I SHOULD have done and never did. But, that ain't going to happen,

'How much are nanas in Oz?' Think Rolls Royce; 'If sir must ask the price, sir cannot afford one.'

I prefer those little finger ones in LoS - good eating.

Good to see you are coming back for another visit. Be sure to PM me a week or two before you arrive. You might want to consider the Lamai Inn for Patong accom - low season, it's only B600 per night and each room includes a computer and wireless Internet connection, 42" plasma TV, hairdryer for the missus, etc. If you look in their 'lamaiphuket' website, it is the Lamai Inn selection. I've never stayed there but a mate always stays there and reckons it's excellent value for money.

Don't be, Ping. That is valuable information that I might use in the not too distant future. You ARE talking about Bangkok, aren't you? I'm up here in Chiang Mai in a long term residence.

OOPS, I see you said Phuket. My mistake. It's good info just the same.

I guess talking about the price of bananas is always a good topic for Sibey.

What used to get my goat, was everytime the banana industry in Qld got blown apart by a cyclone, the price of Carnarvon bananas in Perth went up by the same huge amounts despite being grown 3000 miles away!

Profiteering!

Too true, Old Croc.

I remember when there was a failure in the sugar industry when a few areas lost 30% of their crop. They jacked the prices of candy bars up 70%. I remember when candy bars used to cost 10 cents. Now they cost over a dollar and I don't buy them anymore.

There are carnivores, herbivores and omnivores, for instance lions, cows and mankind.

Yet in mankind we have other classifications, such as vegetarians and vegans.

As we omnivores enjoy a nice steak with our veggies, is it permissible to eat vegans?

As a corollary, can I keep a couple of vegans in the barn and milk them for my morning cornflakes?

Star Trek was always one of my favourites too. However, Captain Kirk to my recollection never tried to milk Spock, so the answer to your question is , yes you can eat them ( although I never saw that episode ) but no, as far as I'm aware they don't stand still enough on the bridge to be milked............. Hope that helps.

Edited to ad......Never knew you were a coal miner Humph.
