The Ladybar 1 on Ban Kai Road, Koh Phangan a couple of nights ago had some unwanted visitors.

The thai bar girls who were working were grabbed by two drunk Thai men requesting free sex.

The English Farang owner, Nick was not there - apparently he was at his other ladybar 2, near Thong Sala when the action was going on.

Nick's Thai wife (?) and joint owner of the bar got into a verbal confrontation with these two guys who man-handled her and she fled into a back room and locked herself in leaving the two men to their own devices.

The two Thai men then vandalised and trashed the bar.

It is understood that the english owner has returned to UK for an unknown time and his wife has fled to another part of Thailand.

It's been a busy week on Koh Phangan!

... and have the two thai men suffered no consequences then?

Aha, the magical word, consequences.....

In Thailand, there are none for certain people, regardless of what they've done wrong & it's one of the reasons i am honestly, after 6 Years, with a young Family & for the first time, contemplating about staying in this Country... :o

So why don't you share that information with us?

BIC can be a newbie, but usually is very well informed about what happens in KPG
Not in this case.

Excellent, here is someone that have all the answers regarding this sad incident.

Again I must ask - Why don't you share that information with us?

No kidding. SBK - Why let the "wrong" info get thrown around and refuse to tell us the truth if you know it? Not doing so is just bad form. There oughta be a rule against it. :o

OR, MAYBE you don't feel safe enough to say here? Not like these thugs read Thaivisa. Anyway, you being afraid to post the truth as you know doesn't make KPG look any better, IMNSHO.

Because it was one drunk guy trashing a bar. He was arrested by the police at the bar. Hardly newsworthy and blown up by an overly dramatic and incorrect account and then blown out of proportion by the chicken little crowd.

The guy is running a girlie bar. Why is anyone surprised that it would attract unsavory drunks?

Very common in all countries. The worst business to have after a bar is a petrol station, always waiting for the evening robbery (gas is very expensive in Europe...).

But i see all bar/restaurants/shops leaving practically all the stuff open during the night. :D

In every other country the place the next morning will be empty, so Thailand still is special, no low level crime, just do not touch the big local mafia.

Just for a reality check in Colombia/Ecuador and country around it is normal to have an armed robbery on a normal bus every day, with a driver killed every week...... :o

...and someone with their little "I know the truth but I'm not telling!" attitude didn't help any. :o

Actually, the amount of speculation being passed off as fact in this thread is what made it far more interesting. I almost assumed it was an early April fools joke by the amount of hysteria being posted.

Posted

Why didn't I bother to answer? Whats the point? I'd get the usual "what do you know" crowd as well as the rest of the "its all thai mafia" crowd assuming I am sugar coating the truth. Fact is, this kind of thing happens in bars everywhere around hte world, not just Koh Phangan, not just Koh Samui but anywhere a bunch of drunks congregate. I am assuming the only reason for the paranoia and hysteria is because Oh my it happened to a farang's place.

Well, run a bar of this type and you cannot expect to attract the cream of society.

BINGO.

Even if this wasn't just a drunks scenario....I would say that that kind of profession would be putting you on the frontline for getting involved in the murkier aspects of Thai life...violence being a big part of that.

I agree with SBK on this thread. Run a bar of this type you are bound to get the odd trouble maker.

Looks like the facts are distorted also, but I would hazared a guess it is not as exciting as some make out.

SBK thanks for clarifying what happened - however, just so you know the information I recieved came directly from the bar owner via someone who he spoke with and who repeated that exact information to me - maybe he got it wrong?? It is true what you say and this does happen in bars all over the world and this may seem like a small issue but I raised this posting to highlight the dangers of running bars of this type.

Posted

I would hope that anyone who would open a bar of this type would have enough brains to realize the kind of clientele it attracts and wouldn't need a sensationalized story to "learn of the dangers".

Posted

I posted quite clearly that I had heard a different version of events & wanted the op to confirm where he had heard his verison, I didn't say the op was wrong nor was there any suggestion in my post that I was going to add to the already (false) hysteria of the thread by posting what I had heard. :o

The op has now clarified he got the information 3rd hand & sbk has posted the same info that I had heard so I'll beleive my version of this (non) event.

I'm not here to stir or gossip & only wanted to know where th op had gotten his info from.

so why did you smugly post that you knew the real truth and play coy if you had not bothered? well played indeed.

and does the fact that it happens around the world make it less newsworthy?

Nice attack there ts Wonder if you would have bothered if it had been someone else? I think not.

A drunk smashes up a bar. Woo, stop the presses. Something new indeed. :o
