Police clearance cost

Featured Replies

Does anyone know how much it would cost to get a Thailand national police clearance?  Or, could you give me some web addresses where I may be able to get the information?  Thanks.

As hard as it is to believe, the Royal Thai Police do not make a charge for the certificate, but you have to pay postage or collect it. You may need to pay a little promptness money to the officer. Can you or a friend go in and see them ? Much easier than relying on mails.

Thanks for your reply Dr. Patpong.

My fiancee went to Bangkok to apply for her national police clearance.  She told me that she was asked for 4000BT to "expedite" the clearance.  She received it in 2 working days.  I'm beggining to learn some Thai business practices and one is "free can be expensive" in Thailand.  At least she's closer to getting all her paperwork to submit to the US embassy and get her interview scheduled.

They ain't shy Shike. But you got it. Now it's Uncle Sam's turn to rob you over the counter      :o

Yep! $255 for an AOS petition, $120 for employment authorization, $110 for advance parole or travel document, taxes, insurance yadayadayada.  Living in "the land of the free" can also be expensive.

4000 baht!? yikes.

My girlfriend just got hers back a few days ago.  She didn't have to pay anything for it, but it took just over 2 weeks.  Her friend needed hers faster, and was asked for 1500, and got it 2 days later.

US Embassy should be fun.  Last couple times I've been there, I've seen some people lose their tempers in a big big way.  Watching the drama certainly relieves the boredom of having to wait 2+ hours for a 60 second transaction.

Can you tell me if it is still a 'free' service to get police clearance. Interestingly, the uk police charge 124 pounds to take your pringer prints, the Thai embassy charge 40 pounds to legalise ducuments. Im am told, all I now need to is to send everything off to Thai police and wait.......

I need Thai police clearance to work back in the UK having lived in Thai for just a year.

Last question, is it worth slipping a few thousand Tbt into envelope to speed the process, or send it to a friend to take to police and get them to do it?

Many thanks

Dave
