As excuses go, passengers could not really argue when a jet airliner was grounded - after it sucked up a baggage cart into one of its engines.

he Boeing 747 was leaving a terminal gate at Los Angeles International Airport when suction from the air inlet on the engine hoovered up the nearby aluminium container.

The incident happened on Monday as Japan Airlines Flight 61 to Narita was pushing back from the terminal gate.
