One of my Dutch friend called me from Kuala Lumpur today. He said he left Thailand from Padang Besar 3 days ago. He had 30 day overstay of his visa and was ready to pay the fine. But the officer that he had was arguing angrily with another office in the little booth. The officer did not notice his overstay and barely looked at his passport and stamped him out and continuing querreling with his colleague.

So he walked away towards Malaysia side but felt a little scared maybe he should come back and tell him that he had 30 day overstay. But he did not and went on to Malaysia. He will be back to BKK by air next Friday.

He is wondering if this incident will create any future problem at the immigration or not. He called me from KL today to ask me about this. I like to ask other Thai pros about this for him.

A passenger who has left the Kingdom, and actually left,  is recognized left Thailand. Welcome back, no worries!

:D

That's probably right, it should be ok.

However, if your friend wants to be absolutely sure it might pay to accidently "lose" his passport with the visa stamp that has the date discrepancy (overstay) and get a new passport. That way later on some nitpicking Thai immigration clerk couldn't find that visa on a later visit.

But that is just being very cautious.

No need to loose the passport.

The fact that he was stamped out acknowledges that the stay is finished.
