Flags At Half Mast

Been doing a fair bit of traveling the last few days and noticed a lot of flags at government buildings are at half mast in several provinces around the country. Anybody else noticed this and know why? At first I thought it was the recent last few days of violence, but I started noticing before the monks were attacked in the south.

Didnt some President from a West African Country die in France ????

HE Mr.El Hadji Omar Bongo Ondimba President of the Republic of Gabon has died at the age of 73 on 8 June 2552. The Prime Minister has orders to government agencies and state enterprises for flags to fly half-mast throughout the Kingdom for a period of 3 days from Wednesday 10 to Friday 12 June 2552.
