it's the Old South and the choice of weapons is for the one who is challenged, per the usual etiquette...

tutsi did stand a duel with a high school bully in the water at Rincon, winter of 1963: he sez 'yew think yew can surf?'...I sez 'yeah, whose's askin'?'...he sez 'choose off punk, an' we'll see...'

as he issued the challenge I got to choose the venue and someone said that bully was a goofyfoot (rides right foot forward) so I chose Rincon which is a right hand point break (the bully would have his back to the wave when ridin')...I had that punk in tears in under half an hour in small 2-3 foot at the inside break.

the best part is that all the surfers in school that made a difference came along and witnessed; there was a caravan of 5-6 cars drivin' up the coast to Santa Barbara from L.A. I came back to school on the Monday morning to shouts of adulation and girls that never useta speak to me would sashay by and murmur 'hi, tutsi'...

it couldn't have been better done by Hollywood... :):D

Translation ?

hey...it's right outta the old testatment...david an' goliath and etc...but with a southern californian aspect...

do I gotta read yer bible to ye? :)

(sob :) )...I've always tried to mind my own business (sniff)...it's the other folks that turn things inta biblical proportions...

:D:D

Tutsi, my hero. :)

Don't worry tho tutsi, I am more than capable of handling myself, and besides, I suspect bkkjames is all bark and no bite :D

I always form a mental image of posters. That is why it is so fun to actually meet people and see if I was anywhere close to actuality.

I was very close for MiG16, Zaza, Girlx, Robblock, and Geekfreaklover.

I was off the mark for Mrtoad, Moonrakers, Rinrada, Bkkjames, Soundman, and Rinrada.

I hope this was a compliment BB? Although I am guessing you was expecting to see a little green person. :)

Most likely from your name, I pictured someone like an older version of Newman from Seinfeld (I don't know if Seinfeld was even shown in the UK, though).  But you are surprisingly normal and pleasant-looking.  So yes, I would take it as a compliment!  :D

:D:D Yes, Seinfeld was shown in the UK, and I have to admit to being a fan. BB, any person that like Cornish Pasties and HP sauce gets my vote. :D

oh come on, you wouldn't have brought up the whole shopping for Victoria's best kept secrects if you didn't expect it to be commented on. all we need now is pics to confirm this, and this seems like the most appropriate place to post them. Feel free to blur your face if you are shy - me thinks you won't...shhhh.

Would it help if I held my cigarette lighter aloft and sang 'Lady in Red' ?

(or at a pinch 'Wonderful Tonight')

it's alright if you hand out earplugs before you start... :)

How many of you ever held up a lighter to a song? Cmon..did ya, did ya?

(unlocking trigger....Taking aim.... :) )

I did try to set fire to a lift once when it refused to stop playing Kenny G. ( Chinese lift, bloody thing could't speak English or seem to comprehend the offensive nature of Kenny )

I'm 100% with you . Wire clippers do a good job too in such case.

They'd have to be very large to cut the lift cables.

And from the inside? New variation on balcony jumping?

At least it looked better than the ocean of crappy mobile phone cameras seen at concerts these days... :D

On a serious note, saw Dire Straights in Germany nearly thirty years ago. They played Romeo and Juliet which they'd just released and it was the first time I'd seen the lighter trick, truly magic moment.

(And since that concert, they've not invaded anybody, so the lighters and the music must have had a profound affect)

I did the Dire Straits Romeo and Juliet lighter holding thingy too - in Edinburgh. I was on the front row and Mark Knoppfler winked at me.

Treasure that wink Patsy, and dont worry, i believes ya!
