Transit In Bangkok

Featured Replies

Hi,

We'll arrive in Bangkok in November with Bangkok Airways and depart to Macau with Air Asia only 4:30 hours later.

As we fly with diferent airlines, and have to collect the baggage, I guess we need to pass the immigration and get a visa (we're from Hungary). Or not?

I learned that the visa fee has been suspended by the Thai authorities till next year, but what about departure tax in this case? Air Asia says on its web site that departure tax is included in the price, but is there any additional obligation?

I'd appreciate any personal experience from fellow travellers.

Thanks a lot.

Here is a link to the rules about visas

visa info

I had a look but got confused on one page it says that from Hungary you need a visa on arrival at a cost of 1,900 baht.

But on the Temporary Concession it say's that your country will be granted a stay of 30 days for each Tourist Visa entry:- I think you apply for this before travel.

The departure tax is included in your ticket price so nothing more to pay

hope it helps Colino

Some else is sure to be able to tell you more

Your best bet is to contact Bangkok Airways to find out if they will check your baggage straight through to Macau. If they will then you have no problem, just use the transfer desk at arrivals and go upstairs to catch your onward flight.

As colino has already metioned hopefully someone will have some more idea.

you will have to go through Immigration, you fill in a form that you will get on the flight to Bangkok, you tick the transit box and show your e-ticket when they ask to see it.

The taxes are included in the ticket.

I've tried the "check through to" route, and it was not accepted. Baggage had to clear in BKK, then rechecked to Chiang Mai. Might have been Air Asia as the hold - airline doesn't accept transfers. Allows them to charge at domestic flight weight rules.
