Traffic Cone Bowling

Just an hour ago I ran straight into one of those sneak police setups where 23 or so police officers block the road and mostly stop old pick-up trucks and motorbikes.

Apparently my truck is getting older because possiby one of them signalled me to stop.. though it's only 50-50, there's an equal chance he meant the car behind me, or no car in particular, just waiting for the first guy to be stupid enough to actually stop.

So I just stared straight ahead pretending to be in a coma, and then looked in my rear view mirror to see if he actually meant me or the guy behind me.. When I looked at the road again I discovered that most lanes were blocked off with traffic cones, leaving a narrow lane, however it was already too late for me to make that lane.. So I hit one of the cones, a big one but they're kind of rubbery and it jumped away, hitting an adjacent cone, which in turn jumped right in front of the car semi next to me trying to make it into the cone-lane.. So that car swerved, causing another car to make an emergency stop, and at that point I kind of lost interest and continued my merry way towards lunch.

Anyway, lessons learnt:

1. So that's what those chrome bull bars are good for!

2. Police should really try to setup checkpoints in such a way that they don't cause accidents or general traffic mayem at the very least.

Thanks for reading. :o

Cheers,

Chanchao

I enjoyed reading your post and sure bought a grin to my face. Reminds me of when I lived deep On Nut a few years ago, the police would often decide such or such a place was a good point to have a spot check....in the early hours of 3 or 4am....well before the crackdown on closing times. The cops would be in the middle of the road 'pointing' at who knows who.....luckily for me, when they realised I was a Farang, they just waved me on, I guess none of them wanted to be arsed with someone like me at that time in the morning.

Classic!!! :o

I've been in a similar situation myself.

However with 23 or more police at the road block, there would probably have been enough "big police" present to negate the usual requirement to pay a "mia noi fund" donation had you stopped. :D
